Born in Bargetown, KY Mar 12, 1832 a son of Greenberry and Elizabeth Shelton Rogers and was aged 80 years 1 month and 3 days. He was apprenticed as a cabinetmaker and had a successful career in the furniture and undertaking business. He located at Terre Haute in 1853 and later moved to York and in 1863 came to Hutsonville. He was a partner of J. A. Parker in the cabinet business. In 1875 he built a furniture store and engaged in undertaking and for the past fifteen years has been associated in this business with his son in law, C. G. Pearce. Mr. Rogers married his present companion, Bertina Everlett 2 May 1879. Three companions and three children, Lillie, William, and Allie, preceded him in death. Survivors are one son, Charles of Windsor, MO, his companion, six grandchildren and many friends. He was a member of the M. E. church. Mr. Rogers was the oldest resident Mason in Hutsonville, having been initiat! ed in York lodge in 1859. Burial in the old cemetery.
