Taylor, 72, Lincoln, formerly of Oblong, died at 3:07 p.m. Sunday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Born January 9, 1908 in Coles County, son of Howard and Grace Rankin Taylor, he was married June 28, 1931, at Oakwood, to Lucille V. Liggett, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Virginia Williams, Lincoln, and Donna Winn, Ft. Collins, Colo.; a brother, Richard Taylor, Mattoon; a sister, Dorothy Dempsey, Bethany; and six grandchildren. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Oblong, Bloomington Consistory, __hite Shrine of Lincoln, National Retired Teachers Association, Retired Teachers of DeWitt and Logan counties, and local and National Retired Persons. He taught 40 years at Oblong and Eldorado High Schools, a year in Manteca, Calif., and was superintendent of Beason High School in Beason, retiring in 1970. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Paul Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery at Oakwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will follow at 8 p.m. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Beason United Methodist Church.
