I'm just posting an Obit that was sent to me by Barbara Dix who is transcribing old news articles for the website. J. N. BAKER DIES IN BIXBY, OK. A Former Resident Passed Away Last Tuesday Word was received, this Tuesday morning, that J. N. Baker had passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robinson at Bixby, Okla., Mr. Baker will be well remembered by the people of Hutsonville and community as he spent the better part of his life just northwest of town,going to Okla., a few years ago. He was a most highly respected citizen and the influence of his life will live after he is gone. The funeral party met Tuesday afternoon at Marshall. John Newton Baker, the subject of this sketch was born at Luray, Va., Oct. 6th, 1848 died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. E. Robinson at Bixby, Okla., July 7th, 1930 at the age of 81 years, 7 months and one day. Mr. Baker came with his parents to Crawford Co., Ill., at the age of six years, settling west of Hutsonville, living in the community all his life except some six years when was with his children, Ed. and Nola in Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Ellen Guyer Nov. 5th, 1873 to this union was born three children, one passing away in infancy, surviving are one son, Ed. and one daughter, Mrs. O. E. Robinson both living at Bixby, Okla. Two brothers Jim and Will Baker survive him. Mr. Baker united with the old Hutsonville Baptist Church in 1881 under the minister of Eld's. Tommy Neal and J. S. Cox. He lived a faithful member until death. In the passing of Mr. Baker, Hutsonville vicinity has lost one of its most aged and respected citizens. Funeral services were held at the homestead Wednesday, July 9, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Eld. T. J. Wheeler of Robinson.
