Surnames: COX, DUNLAP, THOMAS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ue.2ADI/1357.1.1.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: I have two Cox-Dunlap marriages for my ancestors and wonder if we have a connection. My great-grandmother was Martha Ellen Cox. She was born in Crawford County, IL in 1854. I'm still not sure who her mother was, but her father was James Cox. Her mother died when Martha Ellen was quite young because he married Diana Shipley 11/29/1855. Then James died in 1857. His widow, Diana, married Robert Dunlap in Crawford County on 7/25/1861. Earlier, Martha Ellen's older half-sister, Elizabeth Cox, married John Dunlap in Crawford County, IL on 6-1-1854 - just before Martha Ellen was born. The Cox family migrated from North Carolina where they were Quakers. What about the Dunlaps? Martha Ellen ended up marrying Andrew Jackson Thomas who was also from Crawford County. They lived in Hardinsville. Do you know anymore about any of this? Thanks for your help. Susie Jernigan susiej@carolina.rr.com

Surnames: Dunlap Goff Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ue.2ADI/1357.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Greetings! Two weeks ago, I went to Robinson, IL (Crawford County) to meet with Dorothy (Dunlap) Wesley, my great aunt, who is 85 years old. She is the sister to Homer Dunlap, who was my grandfather on my mother's side, but who died in 1941/42, about 20 years before I was born. She and her sons and daughters (ages 50's and 60's) were most helpful in touring me around the countryside to show me gravestones of Dunlaps and Goffs and provide history and stories. The memorial marker for William Dunlap of Revolutionary War time was there too. Just thought you might be interested. ~Susan

    1. Jackson SMITH obit. ca. 1885
    2. Mary Kathryn Kozy
    3. Had another thought.... Is anyone available to search for an obit for Jackson SMITH in one of the Crawford Co. papers? In 1860 he and his mother were living in the Palestine area. By 1880, he and Sarah Ann (PARKER) SMITH were living in Honey Creek Twsp. Any help would be wonderful! Mary Kathryn

    1. Jackson SMITH md. Sarah Ann PARKER
    2. Mary Kathryn Kozy
    3. Hey everyone, Am looking for the parents of Jackson SMITH, b. abt. 1843. I find him in the 1860 census with his mother, Margaret and younger siblings (he appears to be the oldest). His father was apparently born in VA (as was his mother), and the oldest two siblings were born there as well. Siblings were Rebecca, Lewis, Olivia, John and William. In 1850 they would have been in either VA (where Rebecca and Olivia were born) or OH (where Lewis was born). Jackson married Sarah Ann PARKER, dau. of George F. PARKER and Mary HENRY on 8 Aug 1864 in Crawford Co., and their son George Washington SMITH married Nancy Ann WEGER on 11 Aug 1886. Anyone else tracing this line or who might have any additional information? I'd love to hear from you! Mary Kathryn Kozy mkozy@attglobal.net

I went to Oklahoma and photographed Miranda Lorain Clark York's tombstone summer before last as well as other Yorks. The family did move alot between Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. They were all farmers. I have given info to Ancestry as well. I'll check out the possibility that Caleb didn't die before they moved from IL (that was more or less an assumption of mine).
