    3. Hello, I'm looking for information on William Nathan Sanders (b. Jan. 6, 1892 and d. 9-1975). He is buried in the Robinson New Cemetery. I have been told that at least one child as well as his parents are buried there with him. His father's name is William Sanders and I am unsure of his mother's name but I know she passed away about 1937. He married first Lessie Allison (passed away in 1929 and is buried at the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey) and second Edna ____ (who I think is buried beside him at the Robinson New Cemetery, but I am again unsure). Does this sound familiar to anyone?? Misty [email protected]

Well Respected Citizen Enters Great Beyond. Thomas Noah Cox, the subject of this sketch was born in Johnson Co., Ill., June 30, 1854 and died at his home west of Hutsonville, Ill., Nov. 22, 1928, aged 74 years 4 months and 22 days. He was the son of Calvin and Hannah (Reynolds) Cox and the youngest of 13 children. He was converted and united with the Old Hutsonville Baptist Church about 50 years ago. He lived the Christian life and left to his loved ones the assurance that all was well. He bore his suffering with patience. His companion preceded him in death 6 years ago. In the passing of Bro. Noah the Church loses a good member and the oldest in the Church. One who always had a hand shake and a jovial word of cheer when we came out on the old Church yard. For he was not given to gloom. A man who had in earlier days helped build up our homes. Come early with hammer in hand and drive nails all day long and when the long hot days come he came with the rising of the sun and shocked the golden grain till the going down of the sun. Then walk home tired but happy but Noah's hands have done their work and he has gone on to his reward. And we feel sure this will be an abundance entrance in the heavenly home where there will be no toil nor sorrow and disappointment. We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kind sympathy and beautiful floral offerings. Mrs. Ethel Vhoorheis, Mrs. Neoma Crocker, Bertha and Chambers Cox.

Death  of  Flossie  Cox Flossie Mildred, third daughter of John and Lucinda Cox, came into this life on Sept. 6th, 1886, and passed into the greater life beyond Sunday evening, December 15th, 1912, aged 26 years, 3 months and 9 days. She grew to young woman hood and spent the major part of her life in her home community, finishing the public schools of Crawford County in the spring of of 1902, and later teaching several terms in the county. In 1910 she entered business college in Terre Haute, and after completing a course served in the capacity of stenographer for McCarty & Arnold, attorneys at Robinson, Ill. Early in 1912 she began declining in health and in May was compelled to leave the duties of the office and return home, where she lingered for some months, then passed to her long rest. During the pastorate of Elder B. R. Robinson, Flossie experienced the pardon of her sins and obeyed her Lord in the ordinance of his church, and her life, while it has gone out ere midday, has been consistent and Christian in its character. Besides her parents, she leaves two brothers, four sisters and many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her departure. Her passing away was a happy moment as experienced by herself and as witnessed by those around her, and for her the joys of eternity and the future life had already begun ere she crossed the thres- hold from earth into heaven. Even now she is rejoicing with loved one's who have preceded us into the land that needs no sun, because of the presence of Jesus himself who is the light thereof. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. T. J. Wheeler, her pastor, at the Hutsonville Baptist Church and interment followed in Hutsonville Cemetery.

Rev. Thomas Cox Dead Another one of Hutsonville Township's Noble Men Called Away To His Heavenly Home. It was a shock to this community, last Wednesday evening when the announcement was made that Rev. Thomas Cox, living three and one-miles west of town, was dead  he having expired about 6 o'clock that evening. Rev. Cox had been taken down with malaria fever about seven weeks previous to his death, and his condition of late seemed to be improved and hopes were entertained for his recovery, but the hand of the Almighty saw fit to remove him from our midst, and thus he lingered until Wednesday evening, when his spirit took its flight. In the death of Uncle Tommy Cox the community has lost one of its most respected citizens, the church a devoted and earnest worker, and the family loss which is irreparable. In early life he united with the Baptist Church of which he was still a member until death, and had later been ordained as a minister of the Gospel. He was a true, worthy and devoted Christian and his daily walks through life examplary to all mankind. His home at the time of his death was at the scene of his birth place having lived in the one place all his life. His following was that of farming, in conjunction with his ministerial duties, and in which he had proved successful. He was united in marriage about twenty-five years ago to Dianna Hilderbrand and two daughters and two sons, Cora, Laura, Everett and Ausby were born to bless this union. Aside from his family he leaves one brother and three sisters--Rev. J. L. Cox, Mrs. Henry Voorheis, Mrs. Mary Rains and Mrs. Mariah Stiles to mourn their loss. Furneral services will be conducted this morning at 11 o'clock by Elders D. H. Clements and W. A. Mattie, as she was familiarly called, was stricken with ill health some two years ago and, of late, was an intense sufferer, but patiently and cheerfuly striving that she might administer love and care to her family that only a mother can give. Alas, at God's will Mattie at the age of 36 years, 4 months and 13 days, on July 24th crossed the tranquil river of death to meet the loved ones gone on before and to dwell with Jesus for-ever-more. AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT J.F.Guyer Died of Injuries Tuesday Evening                                                           J. Franklin Guyer, near 67 years of age, was killed as a result of the over turning of an automobile which he was driving Tuesday afternoon about three o'clock. Mr. Guyer, with his son Arthur, 32 years old, was driving from his home near T. J. Kennedys to Hutsonville to get some repairs for his lawn mower. At the time of the accident he was driving east on the road south of the coal docks, there being two well defined tracks in the road. The car was on the south track, and for some reason he evidently decided to switch to the other track. He was going at high rate of speed in a 1919 Essex touring car, and when the front wheel climbed the shoulder Mr. Guyer failed to straighten up the car and it turned entirely over, lighting again on the wheels throwing his son Arthur clear of the car, and leaving the driver sitting at the wheel. Arthur sustained a compound fracture of the collar bone and some bruises. Mr. Guyer showed evidence of his head having struck the ground but did not believe himself seriously injured. A passer by came along and picked up the injured men and brought them to Dr. Voorheis office. When they arrived at Hutsonville he did not think his own injuries were worthy of attention, but requested the doctor to dress his son's wounds and remained in the car for awhile. He was finally induced to go into the office for attention to his injuries. By this time he began to weaken some and required assistants in moving. Dr. Voorheis dressed a scalp wound on the side of his head. He soon complained of a sharp pain in his head and the Doctor noticed indications of inter cranial hemorrage. He became unconscious almost immediately and death resulted about seven o'clock at the home of Edward Dry, where he had been taken after his wounds were dressed. The son is doing nicely and is able to be up and around.                                                             -------------------------- Following is the obituary of Franklin Guyer, which was read at the furneral yesterday.   John Franklin Guyer, son of Alfred and Sarah Hill Guyer, he being the oldest son of that family, was born April 10, 1854 on Quaker Lane, six miles northwest of Hutsonville on the farm now occupied by Mrs. Henry Guyer. In his boyhood days he attended school at the old No. 1 school house. After reaching his majority he was married to Agnes Chambers in the year 1878, to which union were born three children, two sons, Fred and Arthur and one daughter, Lena, who died when a small child. On September 17, 1893 he was again married to Emma F. Rains to which union were born two sons, Wilbur and Virgil, the latter died in 1914. Franklin, as he was commonly known, was a devout Christian and one of the leading older members of the Quaker Church at Pleasant Grove, also one of the foremost and leading Sunday school workers of that church. He was elder of the above church many years and held out faithful in all of his work until he was called from this earth. He leaves a loving wife, three sons, Fred, Arthur and Wilbur, all of West York, seven grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. J. N. Baker and Mrs. Bruce Boyd of Hutsonville, and Mrs. M. V. Whetzell of Terre Haute and a host of other near relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the home northwest of Hutsonville yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Elder Charles High of Indianola, assisted by Elder Ira Newlin. The remains were laid to rest in the Guyer cemetery.

    3. Elayne, You might take a look at any property records relating to this couple. Occasionally, divorce records will show up among land records, as if to document the nature of the land owner's relationships/marital status. If the couple sold land around the time of their divorce, the divorce record may be included in the paperwork. Also, if there was a quit claim or transfer of property between spouses, you may get lucky and find the record there. I am not sure what the procedure would be for obtaining a divorce in 1897 or if there would even be copies of the divorce records any where other than the County Courthouse. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Elayne [email protected]
