You can search the 1880 census free at www.familysearch.org. This would indicate that Nancy was born about 1848 in Indiana, with her parents also being born in Indiana. You should probably check the original census image to make sure this was transcribed correctly. Good luck! Janet Creighton ADDIS Self M Male W 44 OH Farmer PA OH Nancy E. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ue.2ADI/1290.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Jim, Looked at my Gr-grandfathers notes in his little personal diary from 1925 and 1927 trips to visit family in Crawford, Lawrence and Wayne counties. Found the Dunlaps in the notes but not sure if they fit you family of Dunlaps. There were about 4 entires for a Belle Dunlap, apparently was an old friend. Then one entry for a "Gim" Dunlap....My Grandfather used very inventive spelling so probably Jim... During these particular entires it was apparent he was visiting with his Sister in Crawford County, near Flat Rock. His sister was Mayberry and Laura Goff. If this is of interest let me know and I can type out each entry and mail it to you privately. Have a good day. Cheryl

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hout Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ue.2ADI/888.3 Message Board Post: Oh, my fathers name on that list is showing William A. Hout...! I know it had to be done by either my aunt Jenaveeve ( not sure of how to spell her name- But but father contacted her and other relatives in Illinois often about the family tree...,) Or by another relative that was doing reasearch with my dad... My aunt Jenavieve is no longer living either she died before my father did,,, he was real upset about her passing... My dad grew up in Mt. Carmel and married my Mom in Chicago, her name is Marie,,Later they lived in Fox Lake, McHenry, Illinois...My grandfather passed away also in Arizona recently they had also lived in Illinois...his name was Mabry Hout, married to Mary Hout ( maiden name Parker ) I know it was made by a relative because my father never wanted anyone to know his real name,,, and your quilt shows the name he chose to use all his life,,, yet most of his records all his life showed Bill or William Hout,,, many showed no middle name,,, because his real name was P. William Hout... William was his middle name... he never ! wanted people to know his real first name....! Even many of my relatives only have ever known him as William or Bill Hout, few knew him as William A. Hout....! My brothers name is William Anthony Hout and his sons name is William Anthony Hout also...! Contact me and I will tell you his real first name....! Please tell me how you aquired this quilt...! My father spent endless hours, and years researching his family tree and contacting relatives to establish facts documenting their births, deaths, marriages, children, ect...! I remember seeing papers that said Crawford on them,, but dont know where Crawford is,,,. I left Illinois with my parents when I was too young to remember much... I do know I had a Great Grandma Wilson, and I remember a farm and farm house in Illinois somewhere ( Aunt Jenaveeve's I think)... My Father had passed away for some time now...! I was shocked to find your message,,, because it has been hard for me to find any of the relatives that he was working on this project with,,, most of them seem to have passed away also...! Susan M. Hout

Was it made by one of my relatives who was doing research on our family tree with my father? My father who is passed away did extensive research with some of my northern relatives for many years.I was born in Illinois and am currently living in Florida.. He even located an old military photo of John Hout and amazingly looked as is he could have been a reincarnation of him...! I recognize many of the names you have listed on your quilt... those names are the same names my fathers papers and old record documents sent to him from up north of his fathers side of the family tree...Please send me an email or write to me at angel_888@netzero.net Susan M.
