Cynthia Ann was born in Coles County, IL, but the area her parents lived in was so close to Coles, that the lines between the counties are somewhat blurred even today. Silas was the son of John & Sarah (WHITE) Parker. Both John & Silas were killed in the attack on Fort Parker by Comanche, Kiowa, Caddo and Wichita indians. Hope this helps

Surnames: Cox, Lamb, Layton, Reynolds Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ue.2ADI/319.1.1.2.1.1 Message Board Post: I connect to this family also. Here is the obituary of their son, Abel. Obituary of Abel Reynolds 14 June 1905 Clark County (IL) Herald Abel Reynolds, one of the pioneer settlers of Crawford county and one of the oldest residents of that county, passed away at the home of his son John at West York on June 3. He had reached the advanced age of 93 years and had lived more than four score years in the vicinity in which he died. He was a son of Jesse and Williamettra Lamb Reynolds and was born in Randolph county, North Carolina, January 4, 1812, and was thus aged 93 years and 5 months. He came with his father's family to Crawford county, Illinois, 1820. there he grew to manhood, receiving a limited education in the subscription schools of that early eay. He began farming on reaching his majority but sold his form in 1838 and bought a grist mill at York. This mill was destroyed by fire in 1851, Mr. Reynolds losing all his savings accumulated by years of hard labor. He again went to work on a farm, with a brave heart and a determined will, and in course of time he had accumulated enough money to purchase another farm. He continued farming until 1882 when he removed to West York and engaged in carpentering which occupation he followed until the infirmities incident to old age compelled him to lead a retired life. On November 11, 1832, Mr. Reynolds was married to Miss Sarah Cox. Six children were born to this union. The wife and five children preceded our subject in death, one son surviving. He is survivied by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, who with a host of friends, mourn his death. The funeral services were conducted Monday by Rev. Richard Layton and were attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The burial took place at the Lindley cemetery near West York. Abel Reynolds was a typical representative of that sturdy class of Quakers who settled Northern Crawford. He was industrious, frugal, honest and charitable and always commanded the respect of his acquaintances. He was a member of the Friends' church and his daily life exemplified his profession.--Democrat.

    3. Hello All, I am looking for help in locating a CAROLINE (CARRIE) MARKLE in the 1860 state census for the County of Crawford . She would be about 8 years old. She would have been born in 1852 in ILL. Not sure who her parents are ,but they are thought to be George and Dorothiea Mack Markle. But its not an absolute. Would appreciate the help if anyone has access to that census. Thank you very much.
