Hello and I am new to this group writing from Southern California. I am working on the following names SINSABAUGH, MENKE, MENK, MINK. The MENKE family pronounced/spelled it 3 different ways. Several of the family members were born, raised and in buried in Mattoon. They are as follows: Harry C. Sinsabaugh b:4/1832 d:5/1/1907 who married Lydia Ann Smith b: 11/1/1862 d: 9/29/1907 with 3 children: 1) Anna Fluella Sinsabaugh b: 1/28/1863 married Francis Marion Mink b: 9/8/1858 d: 4/17/1936; 4 children 2) Harry B. Sinsabaugh b:11/1/1862 d: 11/30/1937 married Lula Wright (no info); 3 children 3) Francis Marion Sinsabaugh b: 7/15/1868 d: 11/17/1917 married Emily Bigger b: 3/3/1867 d: 4/4/1937; 5 children Each of three children had kids of there own but not all in Mattoon. Some in Carrolton and Robinson, Illinois. Francis Marion Mink was a former Mayor of Mattoon around the turn of the century and was impeached.
