    3. Hi, Ken, I've updated this afternoon's info The only two Coopers that we've found so far that are buried in Carlyle are: COOPER, George P. born 26 Dec 1835 died 17 Mar 1914 COOPER, Margaret A. born 1 Apr 1840 died 16 Feb 1924 For other Cooper links on our web page, go to the "Clinton County Surname Helper" and to the searchers under "Cemeteries" and "1920 Census". James and Harriet Cooper are listed in the 1900 census for Carlyle City. During proofing, the size of the household became a bit larger - there were 2 families in that house. The household number changed, too. According to http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/marriage.html Mary Cooper married James Clabaugh. If you want to check for other Coopers, you could go to that URL, and just insert Cooper for the brides in Clinton Co. Later try the grooms. Or you could expand it to statewide, or some other county. Page 160B Household 121 - 130, no address given, first 11 people can read, write and speak English. Cooper, James, Head, born May 1828, Age 72, married 47 years, born IL, father GA, mother TN, Ocupation: NG, Rent house Cooper, Harriet, wife, Mar 1839, 61, had 15 children, 11 living, KY KY GA Mainer, Theresa Dau, Jul 1879, 20, married 3 years, had 1 child, still living, IL IL KY Mainer, Edward, Son-Law, Aug 1869, 30, IL Unk Unk, Occupation ----- (Still no Mainer child listed. There is a entry in the Carlyle cemetery for Mains, Infant, no dates given - child of Mr. & Mrs. E. L. - that could easily be Mainer) Household 121-131 Claubaugh, James, Head, May 1855, 45, Married 23 years, Pa Pa Pa Day laborer, not available 6 months last year, Rent house Claubaugh, Mary, Wife, Sep 1855, 44, Had 8 children, 7 living, IL IL KY Claubaugh, Robert E., Son, Sep 80, 19, IL PA IL Day laborer, not available for work 1 month last year Claubaugh, Gora J., Dau, Apr 1883, 17, IL PA IL House servant Claubaugh, Louis Clinton, Son, Oct 1883, 16, IL PA IL Farm laborer, not available 0 months last year (I triple checked the birth months/years/ages of Gora & Louis - maybe Louis should have been 1885) Claubaugh, Martin C., Son, Dec 1886, 13, IL PA IL At school 9 months last year Claubaugh, Harriet L., Dau, Sep 1889, 10, IL PA IL At school 9 months last year Claubaugh, George W., Son, Feb 1893, 7, IL PA IL At school 4 months last year Claubaugh, Alfred W., Son, Oct 1896, 3, IL PA IL I don't have an index for 1910 but skimming through the City of Carlyle, I see that James Clabaugh is 56, widower, had 8 children, 5 living. Martin, Harriet and George, all single, still live with him. I did not see Cooper or Mainer, they could be there or they could have moved elsewhere. I'll check the death register at the FHC on my next trip there - maybe in a week or two. James Clabaugh was my grandmother's brother or cousin - some day I'll do my own tree and figure it out. I do have some Clabaugh info, if you need anything on them, please email me directly, not thru the List.
