    3. Is there another current researcher on our County list for Weems? Herschel: Do you have the death certificate info for: Weems, Jas E. 58 747 and Weems, Martha J. 7 79? Did you see the two burials on http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilclint2/cemetery/irishtown/keyesport.htm ? In the 1880 census, I see Weemes, James E., 45, merchant, TN TN TN, living in the Horace and Mary Clark household in Irishtown Township. There is a 3 year old girl Weemck, Mary B. living 4 households earlier with William (physician, born 1848, KY) and Eliza Ann Hays, baby is IL TN MD. I see no Weemes in 1870 or 1900. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp Dorothy ----- Original Message ----- From: Herschel Weems To: Dorothy Falk Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2003 1:48 AM Subject: Fw: Weems I don't have a lot of information on the Thomas Lewis Weems (1777-1829) line. He married a Hannah Galbreath in North Carolina in about 1795 then went to Sumner County Tennessee and on to Marion County, Illinois, arriving about 1820. Will recorded in Marion County in 1830. Per the will, Thomas and Hannah's children were Caroline; Catherine; Elizabeth married Joseph Helms; James; Jane; Nancy; Polly; Rosa; Sally; Thomas Lewis, Jr married Mary Mabry; John. Would like to know who the other children married. John was in the 1830 Marion county census. Thomas Jr and Mary's children that I know of were Thomas Leroy Braxton Weems and Martha Patsey. Thomas Leroy (1836-1909) married Laura Bradley, children were George Melvin Weems (moved to California), Harry L, Bertha Mae, Lewis T. (died as a child). Have no current contact for any of this family. I was grabbing for straws with the James C Weems who married Jenny Dill in Clinton County as maybe being the James, son of Thomas L! ewis Weems. Maybe William T was his son as he was married in Clinton County and no other Weems' I know of lived there. I have quite a bit on these people. Sarah Burroughs married a Thomas Franklin Weems (1855-1930) son of James Alston Weems (1828-1908). This Thomas Franklin was a brother to my Grand Father William Jesse Weems (1864-1920) who married Armenda Meador. My father was Austin Herbert Weems (1900-1981) who married Mandy Estella Dial. I don't believe that there was a close relationship between the two Weems families, but not sure. Trying to find out as much as possible about the John, son of Thomas Lewis, who some people are claiming is the father of James Alston Weems. Really trying to prove that this isn't correct. Any idea of dates of birth and/or when he was in Clinton County? Parents names? Is he the one who married Sarah Burroughs in 1878? Or the one who married Polly Mabry in 1830? Or another one? ----- Original Message ----- From: Herschel Weems To: Dorothy Falk Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2003 9:49 PM Subject: Fw: Weems Hi Dorothy; Any information that I can find is always helpful. I am trying to find information on the decedents of a Thomas Weems who lived in Marion County. He is buried in the Donaho Cemetery in Marion County. I am a descendent of James Alston Weems from Wayne and Marion Counties. Thank you for any information you may find. Bad news - No additional info on the 1875 marriage, the parent information wasn't recorded until 1878. I might be able to find the person who married them if that info would be worth while. Generally, I might be able to identify the township that the officiant normally performed marriages in. Let me know if you want that. Sorta' Good news - The information is probably available for the 1916 marriage, about 90% of that time frame list the parents. I'll check that on my next trip to the O'Fallon Family History Center. It might be several weeks yet.
