Is he not listed? Perhaps a misspelling or something? It is entirely possible there is a misspelling, but it is more likely the death was never recorded. Mandatory filing of deaths was not required until much later than the period when he died. Sometimes deaths were not recorded at all, at others they were recorded up to a year after the death! My guess is, there was never a civil recording of the death, though the church very likely would have some type of record. Laura

    3. Another possibility is that he died somewhere besides Clinton County - perhaps in a Belleville or St Louis or Greenville hospital or perhaps he was just plain visiting or living elsewhere. Did his obit happen to mention where he died? As Laura said, you could write to that church and ask for more information - they are set up to respond to your mail. Address is North Main Street, Breese, IL, 62230, phone 618-526-4319. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2004 3:22 PM Subject: Re: [ILCLINTON] Death Book Heinrich Deutsch In a message dated 2/24/04 3:47:30 PM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: I have the death date and cemetery, but the name isn't showing in the online death book listing.
