Frank, so far I am not familiar with any of the names mentioned in Posey. Of course, I was a child when I visited there....probably not more than half a dozen times that I can remember. Some names I do recall, or think I recall, are Tony Bock who owned a grocery store. Also a Truman Orrell who I think owned an all purpose store..from groceries to horse collars. His wife may have been Irene Boatwright. A Mrs. Johnpeter was the post mistress. Vern Crocker is another name that comes to mind. There was a Louis Koenig (sp) from Posey who visited us in KY. What I remember about him was that he didn't drink milk and put coffee on his cereal. Lou Cope is another name I recall. And, oh, yes. There was a Fritz Bright I can remember my parents talking about when he was injured/killed? in a coal mining accident. I have often wondered what happened to these people Mary Louise
Hi, Mary, Some of those names might be mentioned in the cemetery reading at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilclint2/cemetery/lake/posey.htm Hmmm, coffee on cereal - why don't you send that idea in to General Mills for the lactose intolerant people? ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Louise Gossum To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, January 04, 2004 3:23 PM Subject: Re: [ILCLINTON] Posey Frank, so far I am not familiar with any of the names mentioned in Posey. Your little store is still there, still has alot of odds and ends in it, they don't sell gas anymore, I'm not sure who owns it now, they have to do it for a past time because I don't think alot of people stop there.
