Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Sep 17, 2003, Page 2a/Col 1-2 Shirley A. Etter, 66 Shirley A. Etter, 66, of Carlyle, died Sunday, Sept. 14th, 2003, at her home. She was born on March 14th, 1937, in Centralia, the daughter of Elvia and Helen Piercy Robinett. On July 1st, 1954, she married F. Dean Newkirk, and he preceded her in death on April 9th, 1993. She then married James Etter on August 31st, 1996, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Bob Newkirk of Carlyle, Steven Newkirk of Williamsville, MO; Kevin Newkirk of Bartelso and Eric Newkirk of Anna; one daughter, Deborah Day of Nokomis, FL; one brother, Darrell Robinette of Centralia, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, F. Dean Newkirk, and a sister, Hilda Thomas. Mrs. Etter was a homemaker and she formerly helped her first husband in the plumbing business. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. She was also active in the Clinton County Democrat Central Committee. Funeral services were conducted today, Wednesday, Sept. 17th, at 10 a. m. at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Carlyle. Visitation was at Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle.
