Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Nov 5, 2003, Page 2a/Col 2 Bertha R. Horstmann, 82 Bertha R. Horstmann, 82, of Aviston died Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 2003, at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born on July 19th, 1921, in Aviston, the daughter of Herman and Caroline Kuhl Wolters, and they preceded her in death. On April 18th, 1951, at St. Francis Church in Aviston, she married Charles Horstmann, and he preceded her in death on July 3rd, 1994. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Dorries of Breese and Tammy Arentsen of Trenton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred "Fritz" and John Wolters, both of Aviston, and Ralph Wolters of Albers; and four sisters, Cecilia Niemann and Josephine Gunn, both of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Louise Ratermann of Breese and Frieda Schomaker of New Baden. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Catherine Gress and Dorothy Richter; and three brothers, Joseph, Otto and Wilbert Wolters. Mrs. Horstmann was a homemaker. She also was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston, where her Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, Nov. 6th, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Daniel Friedman officiating. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation was at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
