    3. Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Apr 14, 2004, Page 2a/Col 1-2 Milfred L. Conrad, 82 Milfred L. Conrad, 82, of Carlyle died Thursday, April 8th, 2004, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle. He was born in Meridian Township, Clinton County, on October 27th, 1921, the son of Charles and Kathryn Washburn Conrad. He married Wilma V. Hester on October 1st, 1950, in Shattuc, and she preceded him in death on June 5th, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Thouvenin of Huey; three sons, Charles Conrad of Sandoval, Norman Conrad of Carlyle, and David Conrad of Shattuc; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Loretta Dorries of Carlyle, and three step-brothers, Alvin and Robert Beckemeyer, both of Carlyle, and Herbert Beckemeyer of Tolono. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred Conrad; a brother, Harold Conrad; two grandsons; a step-father, Fred Beckemeyer, and three step-brothers, Clinton, Calvin and Wayne Beckemeyer. Mr. Conrad was a retired grain and dairy farmer and formerly sold Bear Seed Corn. He was a member of the Shattuc United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau and long-time director of the Ferrin Co-Operative Equity Exchange, Inc. He was a former director of the Farmers Home Administration and Clinton County Rural Youth. He was also a member of the Coles Creek String Band. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 10th, at 11 a.m. at the Shattuc United Methodist Church, with Rev. Harold Quick officiating. Interment was in Carlyle Cemetery. Visitation was at Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle.
