Wellen died Wednesday, Jan. 1st, 1997, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, at the age of 86 years. Born in Germantown on July 1st, 1910, she was a daughter of Frank and Anna Smith Rolves. In Albers on Oct. 16th, 1929, she married Bernard Wellen. He died April 12th, 1984. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dolores "Dee" Ernst of Bellevue, Iowa, Mrs. Bernette "Betty" Dilley of Trenton, and Mrs. Clare Seiffert of Carlyle; four sons, Marvin, Ralph, and Robert Wellen, all of Trenton, and Orville Wellen of Washington, Mo.; 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Frank Rolves of Divernon, Erwin Rolves of Beckemeyer, and Wilbert "Vince" Rolves of Carlyle. She was preceded in death by a son, James Wellen; great-grandchildren, Alex and Melissa Ernst, and two sisters, Christine Wellen and Irene Schmidt. Mrs. Wellen was a member of St. Mary's Church in Trenton, Altar Sodality of the church, VFW Auxiliary and Senior Citizens, both in Trenton, and Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois. Rev. Vincent Flannery officiated at services held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4th, at St. Mary's with burial following in the church cemetery. The Moss Funeral Home in Trenton was in charge of arrangements.
