Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Sep 30, 1998, Page 2/Col 3 Lillian Cope, 96 Carlyle native Mrs. Lillian C. Cope died Thursday, Sept. 24th, 1998, at Doctors Nursing Home in Salem. She was 96 years old. A daughter of Alvie and Belle Wheelan Taylor, she was born near Carlyle on June 4th, 1902. On April 22nd, 1924, in Carlyle, she married Marion F. Cope. He died April 25th, 1971. Survivors include a niece and several cousins. Mrs. Cope had lived in Centralia since her marriage. She was a member and past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge 596 and a member of the Royal Neighbors. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centralia. Graveside services were held at Carlyle cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25th, with Rev. Elaine Smith officiating. The Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia was in charge of arrangements.
