Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Jun 15, 2005, Page 2a/Col 1-2 Kathryn Harpstrite, 90 Kathryn Ann Harpstrite, 90, of St. Louis, Mo., died on Saturday. June 11th, 2005, at Aviston Countryside Manor. Born on the family farm south of Trenton on June 29th, 1914, she was the daughter of Edward and Anna Pletscher Harpstrite, and they preceded her in death. Survivors include one brother, John Wesley Harpstrite of Boerne, Texas. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Kuhn, Clara Roper and Gertrude Guthrie; three brothers, Richard Harpstrite, Harvey Harpstrite and Herbert Harpstrite. A member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Louis, she had attended business school in St. Louis and worked in the offices of Stix, Baer and Fuller, and was office manager of Thomas Enterprises. After her retirement, she was active with her church and the church's food pantry. She enjoyed traveling and being the family historian. Visitation was on Monday, June 13th at the First United Methodist Church in Trenton and was followed by the funeral services at 3 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Debbie Melzer officiating. Burial was in Trenton Cemetery. Moss Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
