Von Hatten of Carlyle were conducted today (Wednesday), Feb. 26th, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Carlyle, with Rev. Steve Goodin officiating. Mrs. Von Hatten died Monday, Feb. 24th, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, at the age of 76. She was born in Irishtown Township on Jan. 19th, 1927, a daughter of Charles N. and Edna Kile Fisher. On Oct. 23rd, 1951, at St. Teresa Church in Marydale, she married Urban Von Hatten, and he preceded her in death on October 2nd, 2000. Survivors include one sister, Margaret Hodapp of Collinsville, and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Urban. Gladys was a secretary and bookkeeper for Carlyle Community School District for 31 years and, prior to that, held other secretarial positions in Carlyle. She was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle and held several positions on the church board over 30 years, in addition to serving as organist, choir director, and Sunday School teacher. Visitation was at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Carlyle.
