Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Jul 6, 2005, Page 2a/Col 3-4 Edward Gramann, 80 Edward J. Gramann, 80, of Germantown died Saturday, July 2nd, 2005, at his home. Born on June 6th, 1925, in Bartelso, he was the son of August and Mary Loepker Gramann. He married Lucille Haake on Aug. 16th, 1949, at St. Boniface Church in Germantown, and she survives in Germantown. Survivors also include two daughters, Karen Albu and Colette Strieker, both of Germantown; Steve Gramann and Ron Gramann, both of Breese; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Frances Haake of Germantown. A retired communications supervisor at Scott Air Force Base, Gramann was active in the community. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Men's Sodality, past commander, of the Germantown American Legion Post 325, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, Mater Dei Fathers and Friends where he served as treasurer for 40 years, co-founder of the Germantown Community Development, past president of the Germantown School Board where he served for 20 years, and he was a U.S. Navy veteran where he served on the U.S.S. Lewis. Funeral mass will be today, Wednesday, July 6th, at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with the Rev. Father Stephen Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. Services were held by the Germantown American Legion and the Breese Knights of Columbus prayed the rosary Tuesday night.
