    3. In 1850 census of Clinton Co., IL the farms of a TAYLOR seem to be adjoining or at least very near to that of a WHITE. In 1852 Phebe White married Benjamin TAYLOR. Children were John,1855; Mary 1857; Sidney 1859 and Joseph 1860. I realize that Rita Taylor was "by marriage" a Taylor but there are a number of survivors. Is it possible that these Taylors could be kin to me and would be able to tell me more about that time in Clinton history? I am Dottie Austin in NC and descended from a brother of Phebe WHITE. -----Original Message----- From: ilclinto-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ilclinto-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Raecel Gibson Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2008 1:19 PM To: ilclinto@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILCLINTO] TAYLOR, Rita B (TIMMERMANN); 62; Belleville IL;CarlyleUB; 2004-5-19; fch Thanks ----- Original Message ---- From: Frankie Heinzmann <frankieheinzmann@satx.rr.com> To: Clinton County Rootsweb <ILCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2008 1:42:47 PM Subject: [ILCLINTO] TAYLOR, Rita B (TIMMERMANN); 62; Belleville IL; CarlyleUB; 2004-5-19; fch Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, May 19, 2004, Page 2a/Col 2-3 Rita B. 3. Background of Phebe WHITE Daniel White m. Phebe Crow in Washington Co. VA in 1800. Daniel White was one of the earliest settlers in Clinton Co. IL and 1st census has him located in Sugar Creek. That Census was compiled by Daniel's oldest son, William Crow White, and is on the Clinton Co. website. William Crow White m. Lucinda Creel on Feb 3, 1828. She was dau. of John Creel. He was later Sheriff of Clinton. Phebe was 3rd child of Wm and Lucinda. Originally there were 8 to 10 children. I think the 1850 census report on this family must have been filed by a committee. My direct ancestor's name is totally incorrect and ages don't jibe with reality. This is the result of both parents and grandfather Daniel dying in late 30s and 1842 and 1848. To my knowledge only 3 of the children lived to adulthood. The younger children were scattered to relatives(?) or ? Only the 2 oldest and my ancestor, Woodson Porcher White survived. It must have been a hazardous time to live in Clinton Co. -----Original Message----- From: ilclinto-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ilclinto-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Frankie Heinzmann Sent: Friday, May 23, 2008 2:25 AM To: ilclinto@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILCLINTO] Phebe WHITE Do you happen to know Phebe's parents or any other information?
