Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, 9 Apr 2008, Page 3A/Col 1-2 Martha M. Kahrhoff March 23, 1909 - April 4, 2008 Martha M. Kahrhoff, 99, of Carlyle, entered into rest on Friday, April 4, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese. She was born on March 23, 1909, in Bartelso, a daughter of John and Annie (Kolp) Koopmann. She married Paul Kahrhoff on October 18, 1939, in Beckemeyer and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Beavers and Patricia Taylor, both of Carlyle; a son, John Kahrhoff and wife Sansa of Carlyle; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline VonOpen of Arlington Heights and Henrietta Jansen of Bartelso. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a son-in-law, Jack Taylor; a granddaughter, Tina Marie Taylor; three sisters, Catherine Dumstorff, Eleanor Blumquist and Celia Koopmann; and two brothers, Joe and Leo Koopmann. She was a home maker and also worked in housekeeping in the Carlyle area. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Ann Altar Sodality and enjoyed baking, playing cards and bingo. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle handled the arrangements.
