Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Apr 19, 2006, Page 2a/Col 3 Victor A. Kalmer, 83 Victor A. Kalmer, 83, of Damiansville, died Friday, April 14th, 2006, at his home. Born May 29th, 1922, in Damiansville, he was the son of John and Caroline Korte Kalmer and they preceded him in death. He married Rita B. Rakers on Sept. 4th, 1946, in Aviston and she survives in Damiansville. Along with his wife, he is survived by one son, Rodger Kalmer of Damiansville; four daughters, Diane Heidel of New Baden, Darlene Louth of Belleville, Donna Moyer of Aviston and Debbie Stanton of Niceville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Erwin Kalmer of Trenton and Norbert Kalmer of Germantown; and one sister, Marie Haake of Germantown. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Kalmer and Joseph Kalmer. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WW II. He was a member of St. Damian Parish and Men's Sodality and the American Legion Post 1026. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, April 18th at 10 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Burial will full military honors followed at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden handled the arrangements.
