These are excerpts taken from Carlyle newspapers: Oct. 16, 1876 Mr. Joseph Cornelius, a resident of this county for many years, died in Carlyle on Sunday morning last. The deceased had been afflicted with the dropsy for several years, and for some time previous to his death was wholly incapacitated for work. He leaves a wife and five children who are in a destitute condition and are worthy objects of charity. January 4, 1877 Ladies, take the combings of your hair to Mrs. Jos. Cornelius, and have it made into a beautiful "switch." By doing this you will benefit yourselves and help a worthy soldier's widow, with a family of children dependent upon her. March 8, 1907 The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. William Cornelius died Wednesday morning at six o'clock, and was buried at three o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Pritchett cemetery. July 26, 1901 Keyesport news: John Cornelius, aged 20, and Jesse Cornelius, 18, both of whom reside near Boulder, were drowned in the Kaskaskia river south of here several miles Sunday morning. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <ILCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 28, 2008 4:38 PM Subject: [ILCLINTO] Cornelius of Virginia, that moved to Clinton County, illinois area > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: jandmmoran2 > Surnames: Cornelius, Bannon, Durbin, Lannert > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.illinois.counties.clinton/430/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > i am trying to research a Cornelius member or family that left virginia - > moved to illinois - they are in the 1840 federal census of perry county > illinois. listed as a husband, wife and 2 boys age around 5 & 10.
