Klostermann died at her home on Thursday, Sept. 16th, 1999, at the age of 85 years. Born in St. Rose on July 30th, 1914, she was a daughter of Henry and Anna Schoenefeld Rehkemper. She married Arthur Klostermann in St. Rose on Oct. 27th, 1937. He died Jan. 1st, 1997. Survivors include three sons, Norbert and Linus Klostermann of Breese and Clarence Klostermann of New Baden; 10 daughters, Sister Bernice Klostermann, ASC of Cario, Mrs. Henrietta "Etta" Kampwerth of Beckemeyer, Mrs. Mary Schubert of Nashville, Mrs. Jane Jansen, Ms. Diane Klostermann and Mrs. Anita Kruep, all of Breese, Mrs. Rita Liebheit of Florissant, Mo., Mrs. Agnes Huelsmann of St. Rose, Mrs. Johanna Buck of St. Louis and Mrs. Angela Johnson of Germantown; 37 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward and Fred Rehkemper, both of St. Rose and three sisters, Mrs. Veronica Reidelberger and Mrs. Josephine Schleper, both of Highland and Mrs. Minnie Uhring of Mascoutah. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Voss, two grandsons, Donald Schubert and Stephen Grapperhaus; one great-granddaughter, Andria Huelsmann and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Holtgrave. A member of St. Dominic's Church in Breese, her funeral was held there at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20th. Rev. Patrick Peter officiated with burial in St. Dominic's-St. Augustine's cemetery in Breese. The Moss Funeral Home in Breese was in charge of arrangements. Blankenship of Greenville were held today (Wednesday) at 1: 30 p. m. at Liberty cemetery in Mulberrry Grove with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Mr. Blankenship, a former Vandalia resident, died at his home on Monday, Dec. 27th, 1999. He was 78 years old. Born in Mulberry Grove on March 24th, 1921, he was a son of James and Addie Elam Blankenship. On April 12th, 1995, in Greenville, he married Flora Mae Links, and she survives in Carlyle. Additional survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Pat Hames of St. Elmo, Becky Dale of O'Fallon and Susie Davison of Vandalia; three sons, Bill and John Robert Blankenship of Memphis, Tenn. and Jim Blankenship of Mulberry Grove; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Erma Garrison of St. Elmo and Elsie Leswell and Arlene Hott, both of Collinsville. Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Blankenship and one sister, Goldie Hatfield. A retired truck driver for ConRail Railroad, Mr. Blankenship was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both of Vandalia. He had served in the U.S. Army in World War II. The Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements.     3. Does anyone have any information on a Joseph Etter family living in Clinton Co from at least 1860 and moving to St. Louis in 1866. He was married to Franciska Muller, both were born in Switzerland but I don't know immigration dates. Probably related to Menard (Meinrad) Etter, and Jacob (Gotfried) Muller, also of Clinton Co., 1860s. Thank you, JoAnn Etter Garza

'Mandy' Monken, 66 Amanda Marie "Mandy" Monken, 66, of Trenton died Wednesday, June 23rd, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland. She was born Oct. 1st, 1937, in Carlyle, the daughter of Theodore and Ida Grete Wessel, Sr., and they preceded her in death. On Sept. 19th, 1959, in Carlyle, she married Norman L. Monken, and he survives in Trenton. Also surviving is a son, Kenneth A. Monken of Trenton; five brothers, Leroy Wessel of Hoffman, Alfred Wessel of Chenoa, Elmer Wessel of Collinsville, Theodore Wessel, Jr., of Fernadine Beach, Fla., and Wayne Wessel of Carlyle; and three sisters, Hilda Armstrong of Odell, Ruth Hanenburger of Carlyle and Marcella Mensing of Hoffman. Preceding her in death was a sister, Dorothy Lyman; and three brothers, Edwin, Gilbert and Irwin Wessel. She was a homemaker. She graduated from Carlyle High School in 1955. She worked at Embroidery Works, Highland News Leader and worked as a painter and wall paper hanger. She bowled three to four days a week and was one of the top 10 lady bowlers in Highland for a number of years. Funeral services were held Friday, June 25th, at 10 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, with Rev. Leonard Laetsch officiating. Burial was in Highland City Cemetery. Visitation was at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Sharp, 85 Gwendolyn Marie Sharp of Centralia died on Saturday, Jan. 4th, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, at 85 years of age. She was born in Fayette County on Jan. 20th, 1917, a daughter of Arthur and L. Maude Hopkins Thomas. She married Fred M. Baker on Oct. 15th, 1936, and they divorced. On April 12th, 1941, in Old Monroe, Mo., she married Harold Sharp, who was killed in a farm accident on April 12th, 1977. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Baker, on Sept. 10th, 2001. Survivors include four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Suzanne Baker of Shattuc and Linda Brosch of Breese; and a sister-in-law, Helen Wickliffe of Homewood. Mrs. Sharp was a farm wife and homemaker in the Carlyle area until retiring to Centralia in 1978. She was a former member of Carlyle United Church of Christ, the Church Women's Guild, and a charter member of the Clinton County Home Bureau. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7th at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle. Interment followed in Carlyle Cemetery.     3. A note on Warrants. My gggrandfather, Asa Entrekin, was a noted wagon maker in Wheatfield Township. He aquired a total of 440 acres of land in Wheatfield township by making a custom made wagon and trading it for a warrant. It oes not give a location. Just “to be located, agreeably to said act, on any nlocated parts of the fifty quarter townships, and the fractional quarter ownships, reserved by law for original holders of military warrants.” ow do I find where the land that Jack B T Edmonds son of Captain Thomas dmonds got or settled on. This 997 is dated April 1806. I will appreciate any help that anyone can send me.     3. Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Feb 19, 2003, Page 2a/Col 4 Clete Lager, 75 Clete B. Lager, 75, of Aviston, and formerly of Albers, died on Tuesday. Feb. 11th, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. He was born on May 19th, 1927, in Albers, the son of Joseph and Lucille Bahlmann Lager. On Sept. 21st, 1948, in Albers he married Acquiline M. Fauke, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 31st, 1996. Surviving Mr. Lager are a son, Don Lager of Aviston; two daughters, Jeannine Mueller and Connie Delahunt, both of Aviston; eight grandchildren; one brother, Andy Lager of Albers; and one sister, Aurelia Woods of Trenton. Mr. Lager was a superintendent of Stag Brewery in Belleville. He was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Men's Sodality in Albers, Knights of Columbus Council 2921 in Pinckneyville, and Moose Lodge 930 in Pinckneyville. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15th, at St. Bernard Church in Albers, with the Rev. Louis Koehr officiating. Interment followed in St. Bernard Cemetery. Visitation was at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Humphrey, Jr., of Breese died Monday, March 24th, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese. He was born Oct. 6th, 1950, in Breese to Dorothy M. Rosen Humphrey and the late Kenneth E. Humphrey. Two infant siblings preceded him in death. Survivors include four brothers, Joseph Humphrey of Breese, Stephen Humphrey of Nashville, John Humphrey of Trenton, and Brian Humphrey of Manchester, N.H.; three sisters, Mary Falwell of San Diego, Calif., Geralyn Huels of Bartelso, and Monica Mensing of Breese. Kenny worked for Clinton County Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, where a funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday. March 27th, 2003, with Fr. Stephen Humphrey officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, March 26th, from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday. March 27th, from 8 to 10:45 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. Union Banner, Carlyle, IL, Apr 9, 2003, Page 2a/Col 3-4 Dallas Earl Allen, Sr., 71 Dallas Earl Allen, Sr., 71, of Carlyle died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 8th, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. He was born Nov. 13th, 1931, in Tamalco Township, Bond County, Ill., son of Earl and Lovenia Apple Allen. He married Betty Mae Wagner on Dec. 3rd, 1952, in Greenville, and she survives in Carlyle. In addition to his wife, Mr. Allen is survived by two daughters, Vickie Anderson and husband Tom of Hoffman and Cindy Neumann and husband Jim of Highland, and five grandchildren, Stephanie Vonnahme of St. Louis, Nicole Rickert and husband John of Belleville, Thomas Allen Anderson and wife Laura of Carlyle, Erin Vonnahme of Carlyle, and Ethan Anderson of Hoffman, and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Rickert of Belleville. He was preceded in death by a son, Dallas Allen, Jr., and his parents. Mr. Allen was a truck driver throughout life hauling cattle, can and bulk milk, interstate hauling, and crude oil. He was a grain and dairy farmer in addition. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War, and was awarded two bronze stars. Mr. Allen was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycle riding in his earlier years. Mr. Allen loved to visit with his friends and always took the time to acknowledge all along his day. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Stephen Krenz officiating. Interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery in Keyesport. The United States Army Honor Guard will perform graveside military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p. m. Friday and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice or to the American Heart Association.
