I don't see anything on him. Perhaps they married in our neighboring Washington County, their data is not included in the Illinois data base. Perhaps someone from the other counties was able to give you specific info. Perhaps you'll find something on one of the other links that I sent this morning. I'll check the births microfilm on my next trip to FHC. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim and Charlotte To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 9:56 AM Subject: [ILCLINTON] Brown/Biswell I am looking for a William (Bill) Brown who married an Elizabeth (Lizzie) Biswell. Hi, Charlotte, There are no Hirsch or Biswell listed in the current telephone book. You might try a locator such as http://www.anywho.com/ to see where there might be people by any surname in Illinois, if they have a listed telephone number. In 1900, John & Mary Hirch lived in St. Rose Township, Jamestown Village, Page 253A. Household 7-8 Hirch, John, head, May 66, 34, married 9 years, born IL, father born Germany, mother born Switzerland, day laborer, didn't work 3 months last year, owns home free of mortgage, neighbors also had tie to Switzerland Hirch, Mary C., wife, Nov 66, 33, had 4 children, 4 living, Illinois, Missouri, Missouri Hirch, Mary M., Dau, Sep 91, 8, IL IL IL Hirch, Susana F., Dau, Feb 94, 6, IL IL IL Hirch, Grace, Dau, Jul 95, 4, IL IL IL Hirch, Laury E., Dau, Oct 98, 1, IL IL IL The Illinois marriage data base is at http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/marriage.html One way you could go is just insert Hirch in the bride block and leave it at statewide. After you look at that one entry, try Hirsch. I can look for additional data at the FHC in a couple of weeks if you tell me privately which Clinton Co. marriages you'd like me to look up. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim and Charlotte To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 9:50 AM Subject: [ILCLINTON] John Hirsch I am trying to find information about a John Hirsch who married a Mary/Marie Biswell on October 8, 1890 in Clinton Co. TO JEAN, I checked all Conrad's surnames and we do not match except for the Netemeyer. Seems some of the Nettemeyers dropped one of the 't's' for some strange reason. They also spelled it Nettemeier. If you do receive the photo of Fr. Gerhard Netemeyer taken in 1926 would you mind sharing it with us? Our email [email protected] Cletus & Monica Netemeyer and their family who are restoring this historic home in the area around Germantown spell their names with one 't'. They do not have an email address, but I will give you their land address if you are interested in contacting them. Please contact me privately for this address if you wish to write to them. Hi, Jean! Where have you been hiding? Dorothy and I are in the middle of proofing the St. Francis Church in Aviston's burial records to put online with the cemetery reading. One of the names that intrigues me is the STROOT name. It is a rather old family name there in this cemetery and it seems to have several spellings in the cemetery as well as in the church records. I am just curious, so if you don't know, it is no biggie. I was wondering if the names Stroot, Strootmann, Strootbehrens, Stroothman and Strootbernds are all variations of the same family name. Thanks and I hope you get your photo resent. Are your Netemeyers related to the Evelyn and Conrad folks who have been on the list lately? They went to a house that is being renovated by a Netemeyer in Damiansville. Gloria
A while back, someone sent me a lovely photo from Father Gerhard Netemeyer's First Mass, June 1926, which showed a whole lot of Netemeyer children in their best Sunday clothes standing with the priests. Either through change of computer error or just user error (my brain is swiss cheese a lot lately) I cannot locate the photo anywhere on my hard drive. Could the kind soul who sent it in the first place, please re-send it to me? I would greatly appreciate it. I have the 'scuzzy' printout I made when I first received it but I hadn't gotten around to cleaning up my photo directories until now and the file is nowhere to be found. I hope someone still has it. I am new to this list, and fairly new to researching my genealogy. I am looking for information on my 3G grandparents--Emery Moore and Sindy (Marshall) Moore. All that I know about them is from my 2G grandmother's (Annie Elizabeth Moore Fie) obituary. It said that she was the child of Emery Moore and Sindy (Marshall) Moore, and that she spent all of her life in Carlyle, Sandoval and Central City. Annie was born in 1870, so I am guessing Emery and Sindy were born somewhere between 1845 and 1855. I know that a female relative in that line was a Sioux indian who was adopted. I have no confirmation on who that was, but I think it might be Sindy. As I understand it, adoption records for Native American children weren't that good. Any information or tips for finding information in Clinton county would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! (Oh, how I wish I had been interested in genealogy when my grandma was still alive! I am just kicking myself!) Thanks, Linda, I would appreciate any information I can get on the Stroud surname. My husband's relatives were mostly from Granite City, Illinois. What is your mother's cousin's name? Maybe I can give them some information - Edwardsville and Granite City are not that far apart. I have other people on the internet that have Stroud information. Most of my husband's relatives are dead. There are two uncles left, but they were not much help when it came to do the family tree. My husband's cousin has helped me a lot gathering information on the Stroud name. Phyllis (Kues) Stroud
Oh I remember meeting you at the Aviston cemetery, I was visiting my mother's cousin today she was here from New Mexico, and her last name happened to be Stroud, I new it rung a bell somewhere. I don't know his parents names or anything but I knew they were looking for some of there relation. The story went that his family was origianlly from the Edwardsville area and they had moved to New Mexico to help someone out that was sick and stayed there. This was the first time they have been in area in 50 years tried to find some of his relatives but were unable. I do have a email address that I can try and find any information like his parents and such. There were alot of people visiting today couldn't get a one on one but I can investigate a little further if you would like. Dear Olivia Thank you so very much for the data on the Berndsens. Could you please answer another question. Do you know who are the parents of Mary Winter, wife of Herman H. Berndsen, who married April 30, 1878 in Damiansville, IL. ?? Conrad's mother, Elizabeth Winter born 1894, is the oldest daughter of John Henry Winter and Gertrude Leonard. They must be related, but I stay confused. Could you please enlighten me on Mary Winter?? Thank you again for sharing your previous data on this family. Evelyn
