There are over 26,500 Ancestors who have descendants living today. I have also added several National Societies who have proven many of these Ancestors. Also at this time a few new respected Reference works that contain thousands of sources including some of the early colonists who have Royal Blood lines. All the entries are coded to indicate to which reference work or which National Society has at least one of their proven lines. Several of the National Societies have over 20 different lines from a single Ancestor. When you enter the 1600s Ancestor Data Base be sure to look at the top of each data page for the link that takes you to the "Data Base Information Page". Here you will find the codes and references listed and how to use them. This is must reading to understand the Data Base. We are constantly updating the Data Base with additional Ancestors added as time permits. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at: http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. Genealogists, particularly those interested in the use of technology, will meet in St. Louis from 22-24 January 2004 for NGS GENTECH 2004. December 1 is the deadline for the advance registration discount. Since 1993, GENTECH has been the national conference for people interested in GENealogy and TECHnology. In 2002 GENTECH strengthened its infrastructure and expanded its role by becoming a division of the National Genealogical Society. Each year the conference has featured a panel of nationally known speakers who have addressed themselves to every aspect of the use of computer and Internet technology to support genealogical research - to meet the needs of advanced users as well as those just beginning to use technology in their research. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Moore Marshall Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ig.2ADE/182 Message Board Post: I'm looking for information on my 3G grandparents, Emery Moore and Sindy (Marshall) Moore. I have very little information on them--basically just their names from their daughter's obituary. I have not been able to find them in ANY of the federal census(es). Their daughter's name was Annie Elizabeth Moore, and she was born in Carlyle in 1867. She married a coal miner named John Fie. I find conflicting information on where her parents were born in various census--in the 1920 census her father's birthplace is listed as "India", and in 1930 it is listed as "Oklahoma." I imagine "India" was probably short for Indian Territory. In 1920, Sindy's birthplace was listed as Illinois, but in 1930 it simply says "United States." I believe that Emery Moore may have been a Native American, as I have been told that "someone" in my paternal grandmother's family was 100% Sioux, but no one seemed to know exactly WHO. I'm not even confident they got the tribe right. I would be grateful for any information or hints/helps you can offer! I am totally stumped with these two, and apart from actually going to Clinton county, I don't know what else I can do! Thanks in advance. Laurin

Hi, Everyone! I have made some recent serendipitous discoveries about my "Illinois" relatives. My DRENTEN folks started in Clinton County, IL or so I thought. It seems that the family actually came from the Lingen area in North Western Germany. They are included on the Emslander site and in Walter Tenfelde's book about immigrants from this area as DRENTE but my great-grandfather isn't listed. Plus, I had a different mother's name for him from his marriage record in St. Dominic's in Breese, Clinton County, IL. So I wasn't sure this was the correct family. While looking for someone else's ancestor, I stumbled on a Drenten as a witness to a marriage in the microfilmed records of the St. Louis Catholic church now called St. Joseph (Shrine of). It seems that this Drente family started out in Missouri in the 1840s and went to Illinois after 1865. While looking through these records I recognized many Clinton County names. I wanted to share this information and Dave Lossos has allowed my selected records, including Baptisms, Marriages and Burials to be posted on his Genealogy in St. Louis web site. Please keep a couple things in mind when you search through these records. I translated the Latin but I spelled all or most of the surnames exactly the way they appear in the records. This was a German Catholic parish and so the Latin words for John and Henry I put in as Johann and Heinrich. Some names I changed to the English and more recognizable forms such as Gesina for Chesina. I also left all the umlauts in so you can see the way the names were spelled originally. I also translated these records from copies of the microfilmed pages and some names were rather difficult to decipher. So, in other words, you must use a little imagination to find your people in some cases. Dave's site and these church records can be found at: <A HREF="http://genealogyinstlouis.accessgenealogy.com/">http://genealogyinstlouis.accessgenealogy.com</A> The Emsland site, hosted by Barbara Salibi, is located at: <A HREF="http://www.emslanders.com/">www.emslanders.com</A> Both of these sites are a wealth of information and both hosts welcome new data. May you be as lucky as I. Enjoy! Gloria Dettleff

When Dorothy and I went to Springfield, IL this week I ran across a death cert for a Mary THOLE nee REHKEMPER. She died 17 Nov 1918 of pneumonia as a result of influenza. She was born on 28 Oct 1876 making her 42y19d old. Her father was Herm (Herman?) and her mother was Adl (Adelheid?) GEERS - both born in Germany but she was born in St. Rose. Ben Thole was the informant. If anyone wants this death certificate, just email me and I'll send it to you. Gloria
Is there anyone on here who is researching the Rehkemper name? Gloria
I have used Molly Kennedy a lot. She is fast and does a great job. I would highly recommend using Molly for lookups on death certificates. Phyllis (Kues) Stroud
Dorothy, I have tried before to remove myself from the GenWeb list, by going to the Clinton County web site, and un-subscribing. I think maybe I am somehow in your system, because I keep getting e-mails from you, and then a flood of them from others. Since this is my work e-mail, I wanted to stop the flow of messages. It tells you how to unsubscribe your old address and then subscribe under your new address. Since you also have other exhibits online, you might ALSO send Carol Ryan-Spenader an email and ask her to please update your address on the obits, etc. She might be having computer problems so it might take a while. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lola DeGroff To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, November 05, 2003 9:19 AM Subject: Re: [ILCLINTON] Death certificates Hi Dorothy, how do I change my email address on the ILCLINTO-L list? Yesterday Gloria and I met Molly Kennedy in Springfield, Illinois - she does genealogical research for people for a fee. Her web page, with prices, is at www.mollx.com and her email address is [email protected] . She'll fix the link to the newspapers today. Right now she charges $3 for death certificates anywhere in the state, if they are online and the date is not shown in red - those are still at the county clerk's office. Her price will increase to $3.50 in December. After our learning experience yesterday, we think that her prices are fair. Prices for other items that she'll look up for you, including obituaries anywhere in the state, if they were published, are included on her web page. This does not include marriages since those are not in Springfield but at the IRAD's, counties and Family History Centers.
Hello everyone. Does anyone know if there is a resource to find information on miners in Clinton County? My 2G grandfather, John Fie, was a miner there and I have come up empty on pretty much ALL on my attempts to search for information on him. I found his family in the 1900 census, but that was about it. Thanks in advance. Laurin
Hi, Yvonne, Just want to be sure that you know that the majority of Centralia is in Marion County. I don't see Lotti/Lottie in the unproofed Clinton County 1900 census or the 1913 Commercial Businesses or the proofed 1920 Brookside census. If you go to our Clinton County Surname Helper at http://surhelp-bin.rootsweb.com/surindx.pl?site=ILClinton and then choose the "L" and then chose the subshred, you'll find 2 references to Lotti's, but nothing that actually says they lived here very long. The 1920 census has it's own research/finder. The 1930 Clinton County Census for that portion of Wamac City that is in Clinton County shows: Hatti J. Lotti, owned home, value $800, aged 30, land lady, has boarding house, widow, Ger Ger Ger, immigrated in 1900. Borup/Berep, Roland F., Boarder, 31, carman for railroad, IL US IL Lotti, Mark Alfred, Son, 12, IL Italy, Germany Lotti, Marcella P., Dau, 9, IL Italy, Germany (Yvonne: Something to think about: Roland is listed 2nd, therefore he has more status in this household than her children. If you don't know this name and if it's important, come back to me and I'll look at my CD to see if it's any plainer.) The Illinois marriage index is at http://www.sos.state.il.us/GenealogyMWeb/marrsrch.html You might just put in Lotti in the Groom and leave it at statewide, the two brothers are there in Marion County. Then try Lotti in the Bride. I don't see Hatti's remarriage, but the data base only goes to 1920 for Clinton and to 1900 for Marion. Both will give you all names that begin with Lotti, so just disregard the ones you don't need. The Illinois Death Index at http://www.sos.state.il.us/GenealogyMWeb/idphdeathsrch.html - just put in Lotti and leave it at statewide. It will give you all spellings that start with Lotti. Is that your Louis that is listed there?
