Born Jan. 31st, 1919, in Bartelso, she was the daughter of John and Mary Henrichs Ribbing and they preceded her in death. She married Edwin "Hoppie" Holtgrave on May 10th, 1939 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 16th, 1990. She is survived by two sons, Stan Holtgrave of St. Rose and Mike Holtgrave of Maryville; one daughter, Jeanette Dierkes of Germantown; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Marie Micheel [sic] of Germantown, Agnes Korte of St. Rose, Eleanor Potthast of Pierron, Betty Usselmann of Aviston and Anna Timmermann of St. Rose. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in- death by a grandson, Brad Holtgrave; three brothers, Arnold, Raymond and Ralph Ribbing; and a sister, Johanna Waiters. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Rose Church and Alter Sodality, Daughters of Isabella and the St. Rose Senior Citizens. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 16th, at 2 p.m. at St. Rose Church with Father Edwin Schaefer officiating. Burial will followed in the St. Rose cemetery. Friends may call the Moss Funeral Home in Breese today, Wednesday, March 15th, from 4 to 9-p.m. and Thursday, March 16th, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Moss Funeral Home in Breese is handling the arrangements. Born Oct. 8th. 1922, in Carlyle, he was the son of Leo C. and Anna Meier Hempen and they preceded him in death. He married Opal Martin in the Old Courthouse in St. Louis, Mo., on Nov. 29th, 1941, and she survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Margaret Johnson of Carlyle and Susie McQuade of Carlyle; one son, Joe Hempen of Breese: eight grandchildren and, seven great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Hal Hempen; one sister, Eletha "Sis" Hamilton; and five brothers, Henry Hempen, Leo "Pug" Hempen, Oliver Hempen, Joe Hempen and Frank Hempen. He served in the United States Army during W W II, serving in Italy and the Po Vally Vampaign [sic]. He was a member of St. Mary Church of Carlyle, a retired laborer, a Life Member of the Goldsmith-Terry Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3523 of Carlyle and was devoted to his family. Funeral services will be held at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Thursday, April 12th, at 11 a.m. with Father George Mauck and the Rev. Al Simonson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle today, Wednesday, April 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. or Thursday, April 13th from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Stanley and Dennis Rensing; a daughter Anita Rensing; five brothers, Theodore, Alfred, Vincent, Leonard and John Kruep; and two sisters Josephine Kohlbrecher and Anna Henrichs. She was a retired cook from the Trenton House Restaurant and 'a member of St. Mary Church and Altar Sodality in Trenton. Along with his wife, he is survived by one son, Rodger Kalmer of Damiansville; four daughters, Diane Heidel of New Baden, Darlene Louth of Belleville, Donna Moyer of Aviston and Debbie Stanton of Niceville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Erwin Kalmer of Trenton and Norbert Kalmer of Germantown; and one sister, Marie Haake of Germantown. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Kalmer and Joseph Kalmer. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WW II. He was a member of St. Damian Parish and Men's Sodality and the American Legion Post 1026. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, April 18th at 10 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Tebbe November 27, 1918 - December 14, 2007 Raymond Henry Tebbe, 89, of Breese, died Friday, December 14, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. He was born November 27, 1918, in St. Rose, the son of Herman and Clara (Fischer) Tebbe. On April 6, 1948, he married Edwina A. Tebbe, nee Liening, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Michael R. (Rita) Tebbe of Highland, Gerald F. (Cindy) Tebbe of Jamestown, Charles V. (Jackie) Tebbe of Highland; grandchild, Thomas G. (Staci) Tebbe of Breese, Travis J. (Lora) Tebbe of Highland, Sarah R. Tebbe of Atlanta, Ga., Stacey L. Tebbe (friend Casey Renschen) of Germantown, John M. Tebbe of Highland, Jared C. Tebbe of Highland; great-grandchild, Bryce D. Tebbe of Highland, Gavin R. Gillespie of Highland, Jensen T. Tebbe of Breese; a sister, Anna Gnaedinger of Pierron, a brother, Herman Tebbe of California; and a sister, Clara Liening of Pierron. He was preceeded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas H. He was drafted into the US Army during WW II and served in the South Pacific for 5 years. After the war, he worked in Chicago and Peoria, and then farmed with his brothers and later worked as a laborer for over 30 years, with A. H. Seebold, then C. D. Peters, in Granite City. He retired at age 60. He loved to fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was also a member of Men's Sodality, the Breese American Legion #252 AFL-CIO Laborer's Union #680. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose, with Fr. Ben Stern, Pastor St. Dominic Catholic Church Breese officiating. Burial followed in St. Rose Cemetery in Breese. Arrangements were handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. "Alice" Woltering, 81, of Aviston, died Monday, June 11,'2007 at her home. Born November 28, 1925 in Germantown, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Schlautmann) Sprehe. She married Edward F. Woltering on November 6, 1946 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1998. She is survived by one son, Dennis (Diane) Woltering of Aviston; three daughters, Diane Kahrhoff of Aviston, Carol McKinney of Mount Vernon, and Shirley (Gary) Detmer of Breese; twelve grandchildren, one step grandson and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Joseph Sprehe of Germantown and a sister, Josephine Singler of New Baden. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by six sisters, Frances Sprehe, Johanna Sprehe, Irene Tebbe, Annie Diesen, Henrietta Diesen and Catherine Hilmes and one brother, Herman Sprehe, and two grandsons, Scott Detmer and Joseph Kahrhoff. Mrs. Woltering was a seamstress for Lager Store and Brefeld Draperies, and had her own business making quilts. She was a member of St. Francis Parish, past president and member of American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary, and a former Girl Scout leader and adviser with Shagbark Girl Scout Council. She received the St. Anne Award. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 13, and from 8 - 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the Hempen Funeral Home in Aviston. A funeral mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at St. Francis Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish and St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She received her elementary and high school education at Ottawa, and then attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She enjoyed her card club, traveling,, homemaking and reading.
