To All C3 * People, * That still stands for Clay County Connected The map addition is an outstanding addition to the website and is quite an example of the power of the computer to link us to the past. I have not seen any other GenWeb county site that has anything like this. It is a more detailed map than the one I copied from the St. Louis City Library, dated 5 years earlier at 1876. That map covered the county with a little more of a birds-eye view, with each section of 640 acres clearly delineated but not with the detail of properties/owners within each section. A few names are placed in some of the sections, and wooded areas are shown on the older map. On the 1881 map , I was able to see the location of one of my ancestors, Wm. White's, farm and acreage east of Hoosier Prairie, including his home. The White Cemetary is shown on both maps. One nice feature of the earlier map is a detailed street plat of Louisville. Seems like it was bigger 125 years ago than now! Flora is also shown in detail. Ray Oliver in Missouri
