(Charleston IL). I contacted both and the student intern at the IRAD sent a list relevant to the time period in which I needed to do newspaper research. Some IRAD depositories have microfilmed newspapers and a student might do the research at low cost if you ask, aside from the usual research they do as library science students. If Clay Co does not have newspapers for the time period you need, you might try asking which nearby counties' newspapers your ancestors living in <locale of interest> might have read. I ended up paying shipping & handling on the films I needed and read them myself. After all of that--I found one of those obits that sends genealogists screaming into the night "David Benner died last Tuesday, and the funeral was Saturday. A married dau. from Idaho attended the funeral." (NO additional clues before or after this two sentence obit. arghhh!) Best wishes... Joan (in WI) --part0_922376396_boundary--
