There was a newspaper before 1880 but I don't think any copies are available. The book History of Clay Co. IL published 1884 mentions an Isaac Creek several times and I wonder if this may be the same man. He was listed as = a Captain in Civil War Company B Eighteenth Regiment Illinois Infantry.
