My paternal grgrgrandfather, Alexander M. E. MARTIN, moved to IL in the early 1850s from IN and remained in Clay County the rest of his life. He was a prosperous farmer in Songer and then Xenia, marrying 3 times to MaryJane ATKINSON, Lucinda Chasteen and Elizabeth Thomas. According to Mr. Tanner's Cemetery Inscriptions of Clay County, he is buried in the IOOF Cemetery; tombstone dated 1912. Another paternal grgrgrandfather, George THING, also moved from IN to IL around the same time with his wife, America RUSHER. He also is buried in the IOOF Cemetary; tombstone dated 1889. Their son, Lorentus, married Alexander Martin's daughter, Rose, by his first wife, MaryJane. I have had correspondence with Fred Gain in Springfield, who is a cousin several times removed. If anyone else has parts of their families that meld with mine, I would be delighted to hear from you. Pamela Bane Baneshe42@aol.com Jacksonville, Florida
