    2. Ted Cash
    3. Greetings, Have just completed a research trip through Bond and Clay counties (and other places) and will be updating my personal webpage in a few days with hundreds (over 500) of new relatives. Have also just added an "Obituaries" page under the "Queries & Surnames" page for both Bond and Clay counties. If you have any obituaries from either of those counties, please consider typing them up and e-mailing them to me so they can be posted. I've posted a couple that I picked up recently. Hope they will be helpful to others as well. Please review your publications, and if you have any that you'd be willing to do lookups in for others, let me know and I'll add you to the list. Anyone purchase the new 1920 Census for Clay? Does anyone have the 1910 Census for Clay? Anyone have Census after 1860 for Bond? Anything else? 3. Searching for information regarding John Henry Phillips and his ancestery. He was the son of Henry Phillips and Pheobe Franklin. Both Henry and Pheobe lived and died in Clay Co. and their son John lived with his grandparents Henry Franklin and Catherine Stansbury in 1860, in Clay Co. We don't know what became of his widowed grandfather John P. Phillips, after the death of his wife Permelia Stallings about 1850, or who John P. Phillips father may have been. Any clues, suggestions, or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you for your help. Viki Lovell

    1. [ILCLAY-L] JACKSON, SAMUEL c 1805 KY
    2. Don & Melissa Alexander
    3. Jackson folk I guess I owe all an apology. I had been led to believe that my Samuel Jackson's father was Robert, brother of Pres. Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson researchers inform me that his brothers died young with no known children. If that is the case, let me backtrack. I am trying to find the parent of my Samuel Jackson, b c 1805, in KY, d Jul 28, 1864 in Clay Co, IL. He married in 1830 to Rebecca Speaks (daughter of ???), also born in KY c 1812, and died 1868 in Clay Co, IL. I can find a William Jackson who married 25 Feb. 1820 to a Rebecca Speaks, in Casey Co, KY. This Rebecca b 1792-1825 is supposed to be the daughter of Basil Speaks (b Charles Co, MD ) and Elizabeth Kinnet both of Washington Co, KY. My question is are William and Samuel Jackson related? If so, who are their parents-and if not who are their parents? Did this Rebecca Speaks marry both? Is the Rebecca Speaks who married Samuel Jackson the daughter of Basil? Thanks for all of your help. 1. [ILCLAY-L] Sylvester MOORE
    2. Crosswell
    3. Hi, I'm new to the Clay Co. list and was hoping I could find someone researching my particular MOORE line. I am searching for information about a Sylvester MOORE born in Ohio in 1831? The first I have found of my Sylvester was in the 1850 Clark County, Ohio Census. He is living with a Lloyd Sayre, and went to school within the year. There were several other people living in the household as well, but only one Moore. The 1860 census lists his father as being born in New Jersey and his mother as being born in New York. What is interesting is that he is married and Illinois by 1860. He married Rachel E. ?, and on the 1850 census a Rachel E., ten years younger than on the 1860, was living two houses over (another Moore family). I wonder if that was his wife and she was a Moore of her own right. Both of her parents, according to the 1860 census, were from Tennessee. By 1860 the family was in Clay County, Illinois. Between 1860 and 1880 Sylvester and Rachel had five children, all born in Illinois: Almira A. 1860, Laura J. 1864, Vallandingham M. 1866, Sylvester E. 1874, and Nettie Mae 1873. In 1860, they have 10 year old Emma Moore living with them as well as their own 6 months old daughter, Almira. I know Emma isn't Rachel's daughter because in a later census she is listed as only having 5 kids. However Emma was born in Illinois. The family moved to Texas around 1885 and settled in Tarrant County just southwest of Fort Worth. I am particulary interested in finding out who Sylvester's parents were. In 1860, Sylvester and his family are living near a Samuel B. Moore, age 62, and his children John H. 26 b. OH, Martha 21 b. Ill, Samuel 19 b. Ill. I am wondering if Samuel was Sylvester's father. A Polly Moore is also buried here in Fort Worth in the same cemetery as Sylvester and Rachel. This is a small community cemetery with maybe 30 graves. Polly Moore was born in 1835. I would appreciate any help with the research of this family. I am willing to share the info I have as well as some photos of the Moore farm. Sarah Fezio jcross@metronet.com

    2. Adina Dyer
    3. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and thought I would throw this out to see if anyone can help. (X-finger's crossed!!) I'm looking for information on the following: John N. and Deborah Jones left Tippecanoe Co., IN, and went to Clay Co. in the late 1830's. His brother, Edmund, and his wife, Frances, also went to Clay Co. about the same time. Edmund Jones was married second to Rachel Bissey 1844 in Clay co., also her second marriage. Her children by her first marriage were Jackson, William and Mary Bissey. John N. Jones died ca. 1845-47 in Clay Co. and I found his widow, Deborah, in Morgan Co., IL, in 1850, living near Edmund and Rachel. I cannot find them after this time, but I do think that Rachel's son, Jackson, returned to Clay co. aft. 1850. Did his mother follow him? What happened to Deborah and her children? There was also a brother, Thomas, but I have no clue whatsoever about what became of him. Did he also go to IL? I would like to hear from anyone regarding these families. I am trying to trace the descendants of William and Elizabeth Jarrett Jones, and have lost the trail on Edmund and his sister-in-law Deborah. ANY information greatly appreciated!! Adina Watkins Dyer
