Wish I lived close enough to help! I guess it's time to post my information for Clay Co. I'm still looking for death info for my particular Isaac CREECH (this is NOT the same Isaac Creech born to William O. Creech ca 1860, Lee Co.) who was b. ca 1847-49 in either Lee Co, VA or Harlan Co, KY. He married Elizabeth PATRIDGE 20 Dec 1868 in CLAY Co, IL. I don't have a death date for him; however, I presume he died before 12 Oct 1893 because Elizabeth remarried Joseph TRAVIS at that point. Would anyone know what may have happened to Elizabeth and her 2nd husband Joseph? Did they leave for MO like some of the other TRAVIS'? Here are the children(known) of Isaac Creech/Elizabeth Patridge: 1. Thomas Creech, b. ca Feb 1872 2. Elmer (Kile) Creech, b. ca 1873 3. Benjamin Franklin Creech, b. 17 Oct 1876, m. 18 Oct 1900 to Arvilla WILLIAMS, d. 6 Feb 1935. 4. John Creech, b. 10 Dec 1879. Benjamin and Arvilla were my g-grandparents. I am also looking for any information regarding Arvilla WILLIAMS' parents: Benjamin Harrison WILLIAMS b. ca 1812 TN (??) and married Cintha Ann RICHARDSON 15 Jul 1872 (Clay Co., IL). I know that this was at least his 2nd - if not 3rd- marriage. I don't have any death info/whereabouts on him or her. I've written away for info and have paid someone to help find info on all the above; however, not much has been discovered. For the marriage registries, are there any back-up info regarding the parents of those that married? How hard is it to get probate info? The Clay Co court folks have been very nice about trying to look for my requests for inquiries-my thanks to them! Sorry this is so long, I have more to share and am willing to work with anyone in trying to get documentation. Thanks! Laura. --part0_910551774_boundary--

    1. [ILCLAY-L] Native Kentuckians in the 1850 Clay Co. Census
    2. Brian & Tricia Carothers
    3. NATIVE KENTUCKIANS WHO WERE HEADS OF HOUSEHOLDS ENUMERATED IN THE 1850 CLAY CO., ILLINOIS, FEDERAL CENSUS: By John W. Tanner Of the 720 families enumerated in the 1850 Clay Co., IL. Federal Census, 143 male heads of households claimed to be natives of Kentucky, and 144 females, or 20%. This was a greater total than from any other state. However, 157 female heads of households claimed to be native of Indiana, but only 100 males. The next closest state represented with the greatest number of natives was Virginia, with 92 and 70 respectively. And though Clay Co. lies on the south edge of Central, IL., fully 50% of the heads of the families in that year were natives to southern of border states, including KY, TN, VA and NC. Sometime after the original census was copied in 1850, the pages in the original ledger were taken from the book and re-arranged. Consequently, nearly all of the first 32 pages of this census are either one page ahead, one page behind, or completely out of order. Where families were continued on a succeeding page, this caused the children of one family to be placed with the parents of another, or other family members to be placed with families to which they did not belong. I have therefore re-arranged these pages in what seems to be a reasonable order, and are so numbered in the following enumeration. Page # Fam. # Name Age Occupation 559 2 Peter GREEN 54 Physician 557 19 G.W. GOBLE 30 (not shown) 560 9 Pherably SORRELLS 44 560 12 William HOLLMAN 65 Farmer 558 27 J.P. 1. [ILCLAY-L] EAGLE-FEE-WILLIAMS-GLENN-HAMILTON
    2. To all, I just realized that Melissa EAGLE WILLIAMS and her sister Mary Ann EAGLE FEE were living in the same county, Clay Co, IL. This is really something! I'm looking for several EAGLE and or FEE families that moved from OH to points unknown. Mary Ann EAGLE and Moses FEE moved from OH sometime before 1860. I have found her in the 1850 & 1900 censuses to date. Their children were Mary E, Sarah and George W.. Mary E. married unknown GLENN and later unknown HAMILTON. She had 4 children one of which was William GLENN born 1869 IL. If you know anything about any of these people please let me know! thanks, Debbie

    1. [ILCLAY-L] MOSELEY Cemetery Clean-up
    2. This is the weekend! We will be cleaning up the TRAVIS/MOSELEY Cemetery SE of Clay City. Our numbers are few but we are a determined and spirited group! We could use more help however and invite any interested parties to come out and help. For those who may not know the cemetery's location, we are meeting at 8:00 am on Saturday, Nov 7 at the Citgo station at the flashing light on US 50 in Clay City. We will then proceed together to the cemetery. We will cook up a hot lunch "on-site" consisting of vegetable soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and drinks. We will work as long as necessary or daylight allows! We hope others will come out to help or at least stop by and provide "moral support". For more information contact Jim Moseley @ JMoseley1@aol.com or (901)755-0971. Thanks! Jim PS: Names in the cemetery include MOSELEY, TRAVIS, HOUGH and POPPE.

This man helped me immensely on a surname I was researching. Not even knowing who I am he went out of his way to meet all my questions. On top of all that he gladly did some leg work for me and sent me valuable books and information. I think we all owe him a big round of applause and also to all the other volunteers at this site !!!!! Thanks Pat for all the help!!!!! Patrick / Colorado <><
