Hi List: I need a little help from my friends.....I have been trying to find out about the parents of GEORGE and NANCY BREWER. I thought I found the family in the 1860 censusClay Co Xenia Twp. listed as: Jeramiah Alexander Ann Alexander wife ( was a BREWER) George age 10 Nancy age 7 which is the right age for them. I have a few questions #1 how come George and Nancy are not listed as BREWER? Does any one have the census for Clay Co. and could check where they lived? How else can I find them? They are not there in 1870 The daughter moved to Odin Marion Co and I checked there too. Could any of you check for me I really would appreciate it very much. Shirley Nancy
If anyone has access to the "real" 1850 Clay Co., IL Census, would they mind doing a look up for me please? There seems to be some confusion on who this Harrison Colclasure belongs to: #285/287 COLCLEASURE, William, age 26, born in IN Rebecca, 26, IN William H., 2, IL Elias, 4/12, IL HARRISON, 8, IL John, 52, KY It would seem that this HARRISON COLCLASURE is not a son of William and Rebecca Colclasure but perhaps a Nephew or Brother or some other relation. I am hoping that the 1850 census will tell what relation this HARRISON was to the head of household, William Colclasure. I really do appreciate the help and thank you so very much! Hello All, Looking for information regarding Thomas Levitt, Leavett, Levet. Was his second wife Permelia Stallings who petitioned for divorced from her first husband John P. Phillips in 1821? John and Thomas owned land next to eachother in 1817 in Harmony Township, is this where Permelia first met Thomas? Is Elridge and Lorenzo Dow Levitt the sons of Thomas Levitt and Permelia? The marriage record CLAY CO., IL MARRIAGES 1825-1877 BOOK Thomas Levet married Permelia Stalings August 3, 1833 in Clay Co., IL. Record No. 1-29 Is the Permelia Stalings listed in this marriage record the one and the same divorced Permelia Phillips? Please help, any Levitt, Leavett, Levet information which could help me build the Levet line so that we could help prove or disprove that the Permelia Stalings who married Thomas Levet is also Permelia Phillips nee Stallings. Thank-you, Viki below is what I have for notes on Thomas Levett: from the History of Posey County. According to that, John Phillips entered land in Harmony Twp. in 1811. In 1814, Ignatius Leavett entered land there and in 1817, one THOMAS LEAVETT entered land in Center Twp. More probably, she went after July 1828 when Mary "Polly" Philips married Noah Levitt. She referred to herself as Permelia "Phillips" (not Stallings) in the the 1830 census. The woman in the Thomas Levitt household in Clay Co, IL in 1840 is too young to be our Permelia? Permelia's Estate papers were settled in Posey Co, IN in 1850. THEREFORE, It appears Permelia moved to clay Co, IL abt 1828 and might have returned to Posey Co, IN after 1830 Or she was back in Posey Co. with James in 1840. (Wright Philips didn't marry until 1848). Since John Wesley, Wright, Mary and Jemima were all in Clay Co, IL 1830-1850 I SUSPECT Permelia was too. Also she is refered to as Permelia Philips in her estate papers, not Permelia Stalings or Levet. Permelia Philips is on the 1830 census index, shows 7 people in household. She's the only Phillips on the index, She isn't on the 1840. a quick search of the indexes of the various 17 Cox volumes turned up land entries for1807-1818 in which Ignatious Levitt entered the ne quarter of section 28 of Township 4, Range 13 west in 1814. Land right next to him in section 29 was land entered by J. Phillips in 1811 (ne quarter and nw quarter of sect 29). Also, there were records of James, Mariah and Thomas Levitt involved in various transactions such as buying something at a sale, etc. Ignatious, for instance, bought a grindstone for 1.50 at a sale. That's all I have time to do tonight.
