I have a favor to ask. If anyone on this list has the Clay Roots booklet from 1995, there should be an article in there about LUCINDA VIENNA COLCLASURE and husband ALEXANDER BLANKENSHIP. If it wouldn't be to much trouble, could someone either scan it and email the article to me or snail mail me a copy please? I am happy to pay for copying costs. Thanks so very much! Tricia Colcleasure Carothers bcaroth@jps.net P.S. I have Clay Co., IL Marriages book 1825-1877 and would be happy to do look ups!
I was born & raised in Illinois. My ancestral line is on the HIMES section of my homepage, if anyone cares to read it for connections. The page starts with both sets of my grandparents going back early by generation groups with names, dates and localities. http://members.truepath.com/beverly/index.html Beverly (HIMES) BARGER Family History Center Patron Librarian Volunteer in NM

(Charleston IL). I contacted both and the student intern at the IRAD sent a list relevant to the time period in which I needed to do newspaper research. Some IRAD depositories have microfilmed newspapers and a student might do the research at low cost if you ask, aside from the usual research they do as library science students. If Clay Co does not have newspapers for the time period you need, you might try asking which nearby counties' newspapers your ancestors living in <locale of interest> might have read. I ended up paying shipping & handling on the films I needed and read them myself. After all of that--I found one of those obits that sends genealogists screaming into the night "David Benner died last Tuesday, and the funeral was Saturday. A married dau. from Idaho attended the funeral." (NO additional clues before or after this two sentence obit. arghhh!) Best wishes... Joan (in WI) --part0_922376396_boundary--

Hello! I'm located a very long ways away from Clay Co and I was wondering if anyone knew of what newspapers were in existence during the 1830's through the 1890's in Clay County? Are they microfilmed somewhere? I have come up against the brick wall and would like to try to see if there are any clues in the newspapers. In the 1880 Census for Sedgwicke Co. KS my grt. grt. grandmother was listed as Anna and born in Illinois. I have no idea what county she was born in that is why I have gone to the county list of IL for help. I went to the LDS center and her husband had a pedigree and that is where I found her listed as Rhoda Ann Chapman, but someone had guessed that she had been born in 1849 in Nashville, Davidson Co, TN. So would you please help me find her and thanks and blessings to you. Pastor Barbara

Hi all! Does anyone know know what the names/places/dates of publications for the old Clay County Newspapers? I am particularly interested in some from the Ingraham/Sailor Springs/Hoosier Prairie/ and Louisville areas. It is my understanding that you can rent these microfilmed newspapers thru interlibrary loan through your local library directly from the Illinois State Historical Library. Thanks in advance Justin Meierkord
