Here's something you might try. My great-grandparents died in Pana in the 1970s and it worked for me. The public library in downtown Springfield, IL, has a card file of obituaries and where they can be located. Surprisingly, the obituaries for my great-grandparents and a few other family members from that area were printed in the Springfield newspaper. The Springfield library had the newspapers I needed on microfilm.
