Locust Township is not one of the townships in this Census. After four years of researching I have probably found my great-great grandfather in the 1870 US Census in Locust Township, Christian County, Illinois. I am trying to find out if he appears in the 1860 Census. It is not indexed yet so it will be a page by page search. This would be the first Census that my great grandmother would appear on if they were in Illinois in 1860, and I have good reason to believe they were and this would confirm that the person I have found is her father. Does anyone know what township in 1860 would be considered the same as Locust Twp. in 1870? I have searched the complete Christian County pages on US Gen Web and cannot find the help I need there. If anyone out there knows the answer, I would be extremely grateful.
