    1. [ILCHRIST] John H. GRIGSBY, b. ca. 1812, possibly d. in Owaneco, Christian Co., IL
    2. To my surprise, another GRIGSBY researcher informed me that my ggg-grandfather John H. GRIGSBY, b. ca. 1812, Paoli, Orange Co., IN, died in Owaneco, Christian Co., IL. John's daughter Mary Jane GRIGSBY WARD (1852 - 1917), my gg-grandmother, lived in Owaneco and is buried in the Millersville Cemetery. John and his family lived in Sullivan, Sullivan Co., IN, at the time Mary Jane married and moved to Owaneco. Does anyone have any record of John H. GRIGSBY living or dying in Owaneco, Christian Co., IL? It has always been a mystery to me how a man from Owaneco came to marry a girl from Indiana. I have never been able to prove my theory that perhaps either my Owaneco WARD/GRIFFITH family had relatives that they would have visited in Sullivan Co., IN, or my Sullivan Co., IN, GRIGSBY/MCKINNEY/MCGREW/KIRKHAM family had relatives that they would have visited in Owaneco. Does anyone have any ideas on this subject? I don't think the Civil War was a factor as Mary Jane's husband John H. WARD was too young to have participated in the Civil War. The WARD family lived in Noble Co., OH, before the Civil War, spent the duration of the war in Ft. Wayne, IN, then continued by train to IL after the war.
