I don't remember right now what happened, but a Ladd married a Cole and then something happened and my John Cole was raised by his relatives, the Heddens of Taylorville. He was an attorney and DA at one time. His practice was on the square. I'd have to find my papers on him but I don't remember it saying why he was raised by the Heddens, except that they were family. Sally, I will ask Chuck if he can give me names of some of the other relatives. We both think C.T. Cole was John's brother. I was wondering where I could get a copy of the book with the names from Hunter cemetery. My husbands gggg-grandparents William and Mary Hunter are buried there also. Sally, I kept thinking the last name Ladd semmed familiar, on the 1870 census a Jane Ladd lived with John Cole&family worked as a servant in the home, she had a daughter named Emma who was 2 at the time. I have a feeling we are dealing with the same families.
