Mary Jane"Molley" FOWLER, died Dec., 11, 1924, at her home in Chrisman, IL., Edgar Co. She married William Mankin (b 1833, Columbia Co, OH) in Douglas Co, IL., He died 1900 in Douglas Co, IL., Mary Jane FOWLER's father was Samuel FOWLER, Sr., born July 20, 1820. Where? He died April 24, 1878 by drowning in the falls of the Ohio River near Henderson, KY. Molly's mother was Sarah LUDLOW, Samuel FOWLER's first wife, born Jan. 29, 1827. Where? She died April 20, 1866, Tuscole, IL where they were living at the time. She is buried in Boardus Cemetery, Douglas Co, IL. Samuel FOWLER, Sr., father was Robert FOWLER, born abt 1786. Where? I have no proof, but believe he was born in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. He died in spring of 1877 at Mt. Washington (Is this Ky? IN? OH?). Samuel FOWLER, Sr.'s mother's name is yet unknown. She was referred to as "Grandmother Fowler". She died 1856 at Southport, IN., south of Indianapolis. SIBLINGS Mary Jane (Fowler) MANKIN's brothers and sisters were: 1. Thomas Hamer FOWLER, b Oct 20, 1846, Clermont Co., OH; married Mary C. BURCHELT. They both died at Chrisman (Edgar Co), IL. he died July 26, 1911; she died 1912; both buried in Hoult Cemetery, Edgar Co, IL. No ch. 2. James Monroe FOWLER (the one who kept these family notes through the years.). b March 19, 1848. Clermont Co., OH; married Laura Belle OVERMAN at Camargo (Douglas Co), IL on Jan 1, 1882. He died Aug 12, 1931, Villa Grove, IL. (Mary MAXFIELD - see below - is descendant this line.) 3. Henry Eversull FOWLER, b Aug 29, 1849. Where? 4. Samuel Allen FOWLER, Jr. b Jan 26, 1852, Hamilton Co, OH; married Katherine Lucinda WILEY. He died Oct 8, 1929 at Dexter, Iowa; buried in Murdock, IL cemetery beside his wife and children. 5. Mary Jane "Molley" FOWLER - my Grandmother - born Feb 16, 1854. 6. Sophronia Elizabeth FOWLER, b Jan 25, 1856 (dead) - evidently born dead. 7. William Albert FOWLER, b Apr 25, 1858. Where? He served in the Civil WAr on the side of the North. He lived in the St. Louis, MO area, but have lost rack of him and his family after a very bad flood there. 8. Luther (Tod?) FOWLER, b Sept 15, 1860. Where? 9. Parilee (Pearl) FOWLER, b Apr 4, 1863, Douglas CO IL; married Manford ALEXANDER. She died abt 1935/1936, Clermont Co, OH. 10. Laura FOWLER, b Mar 30, 1865, Douglas Co, IL; married James BEECH. They lived at Camargo (Douglas Co.) IL. The above infor came from the FOWLER family Bible and from family members. The Bible also lists the following persons believed to be siblings of Samuel FOWLER, Sr: a. Luther FOWLER b. Thomas FOWLER, was 'killed in war". What war? c. Asa FOWLER, lived near INdianapolis, IN. d. Hannah FOWLER; married Henry EVERSULL/EVERSOLE. e. Margaret FOWLER f. Cordelia FOWLER g. Delilah FOWLER Info from the Samuel & Sarah LUDLOW FOWLER family Bible was sent to me by Mrs. Orville (Mary S,) MAXFIELD, 2301 -4th St. NE., Washington, DC 20007. The Bible is now in Michigan, belonging to another one of the family line. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can be of help to me on this family.
