I have a Robert Layman in the 1880 Census for Springfield, Sangamon County, IL to is married to "Eva", age 20, says she was born in IL but that doesn't necessarily have to be correct. Robert and his wife, Eva, are living with his parents (Jesse and Elizabeth Layman) at their boarding house. I have not been able to find the marriage date for them. However, Robert had a sister, Martha Jane (wife of Wm. Leisster) who lived in Taylorville. Their younger brother, Samuel "Frank" lived with Martha Jane after in the 1920's and 1930's until their deaths. Martha Jane died in Taylorville and Frank died in Pana. Maybe this Eva Blackburn is the wife of Robert Layman. Can anyone check the Christian County marriages for >1880. Mary Louise Townsend
