Does the Christian Co. Genealogical Society have a phone number? Do they have death information for the years 1870-1880? Thanks! Dale
Is the name 'Ashcroft Nursing Home' familiar to anyone? Does it still exist? I am trying to tie Gertrude Gross GEHM, who died in the nursing home in 1966, and her spouse, Herbert, to my husband's family. They are buried in Calvary Cemetery in Pana. Thanks Dale

CCI Listmates: I have cut and pasted a new found additional line to my database below in hopes that it will help flush out some new cousins in CCI. My ggg grandmother is listed in #1 as Marie Margarethe KASER whose second husband, Ulrich FATZER is my ggg grandfather; Johan Kaspar WIEDENKELLER was, obviously, her first, making her WIEDENKELLER descendants my "half cousins". Since there are a number of CCI surnames mentioned in this line, I did not bother listing them separately (perhaps I should have). This will make it somewhat fun for you to hunt for your surnames of interest! I just stumbled on this line last week! There were at least 2 Fletcher households in the Mt. Auburn area at that time... these households were headed by (brothers? cousins?) Job Fletcher and John G. Fletcher. Both Fletcher households had daughters who married Pope brothers (from Blue Mound, Macon Co - about 5 miles away), and both of these Fletcher girls died in childbirth, 1854 & 1856. Both of the Fletcher men's families originated from KY, were early settlers of Sangamon County, and in 1839 when Christian (Dane) county was formed, were early purchasers. I could be wrong, because it's been a while since I saw those census pages, but in 1860 Christian Co Census, John G. and Thursey Newell Fletcher had several children - the youngest of their children may have been your Mary E. The Fletchers were also raising their granddaughter Matilda/Tilley Pope, who was 6 in 1860 (b. Jan 20, 1854 - same day her mother Almira Ann Fletcher Pope died).... and Tilley Pope was the youngest child in that household by only one year - which jives with your Mary E.'s birth year of 1853. I accidentally sent this to the wrong county. I meant to send it to Sangamon. This particular family seemed to bounce between the 2 of them and I was looking at Christian at the time I sent the email. Sorry! Tori
