    1. [ILCHRIST] German Newspaper 'Ostfriesische Nachrichten' - later 'Ostfriesen Zeitung'
    2. Boyken & Boyken Partners
    3. Dear Listmembers, The old German newspaper "Ostfriesische Nachrichten" was published by Pastor L. Hündling [Huendling} in 1882 in Iowa as a connecting paper between the people in the new American settlements and the old homeland with news and events in Ostfriesland and the "New World". Later you could find this newspaper all over the U.S. and Ostfriesland. For the period between 1882 and 1915 the issues were microfilmed around 20 - 30 years ago. According to a descendant of Pastor Huendling about 10 years ago, most of the issues between 1916 and 1971 got lost on the way to a processing center to be microfilmed. Besides Rev. Kenneth DeWall and others, who published in the past some indexes of (only) obituaries, we started in 1997 reading each newspaper for 1882 - 1915 and 1916 - 1971 (single issues) from the front to the back and taking all of the personal data in obituaries and local news into computer files. We added also interesting stories about the events in the New World - especially for the German readers -. So far we have listed 10,300 names of deceased between 1882 and 1915 plus 12,300 names of relatives, and until 1971 only 2,000 deceased / 5,000 relatives. Now we are looking for issues of this newspaper between 1916 and 1971. The undersigned would appreciate your answer if you have access to those issues. We have the microfilms from Crest Information Technologies and Heritage Crest, both in Cedar Rapids, IA. Most of the single issues after 1916 are scattered all over the U.S. and Germany. We guess, maybe finding them in the attics, etc. of old East Frisian settlements in the States. Thank you very much in advance for your help in preserving the data. Sincerely, Hans-Georg Boyken Ostfriesland-Society of Iowa, Inc. frisian@netins.net

    3. I see you are researching the Norman name. Did your Daisy Angeline Norman have a Fanny Norman in her family? Fanny Norman married Josiah Green in 1823 in Maury Co., TN. Around 1850, they and their family migrated to Christian Co., IL. I have been unable to learn anything about the ancestors or siblings of this couple. 1. [ILCHRIST] Index Question
    2. Does the courthouse and/or the genealogical society have a marriage index? I am trying to find 2 marriages probably the same woman...this is what I am trying to prove/disprove. In about 1908 Andrew Shotton (have seen Sholton also) married a woman named Mary E (according to the 1910 census). This couple witnessed the marriage of Eva Minder and Antonio Damico in 1908. In about 1915ish, Mary Ethel Minder married Clyde T Mills (my great grandparents). My guess that she is the same woman is that I have been unable to locate her in the 1910 census and her name was Mary Ethel though as far as my Mom knew she always went by Ethel. The marriage witnessing was also signed Ethel. I have contacted IRAD and they couldn't find any record of either of these couples in their indexes. Thank You... Tori

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gg.2ADE/222 Message Board Post: Just thought I would add to my query of a few years ago. I was looking for info on William L. ANGEL; his sister, Mary (ANGEL) PERRILL; their mother Belinda Jane (RAPE) ANGEL, widow of Samuel ANGEL (he died 14 FEB 1871); and John MCBROOM. It is believed at after the death of Samuel ANGEL, Belinda Jane married John MCBROOM and moved to the Kansas City, MO area. I have no real proof of this. I did finally locate a census record for her son, William L. ANGEL (who was born in 1865 in Christian County) living in the household of William LOBB in Jackson County, MO. There is no record for Belinda Jane or John MCBROOM. I am hoping that someone will read this and be able to help me locate information on Belinda Jane. There is a marriage record for a "Jennie ANGEL" marrying John MCBROOM 25 DEC 1872 in Sangamon County, IL. I have no idea if this is my Great-Grandmother, Belinda Jane (RAPE) ANGEL. If you have any information on any of these people, please let me know. I would r! eally appreciate it. Thanks
