    2. Sarajane, I see that you have a Wm DAVIS, as mentioned in #57, who married Hannah Foster. Do you have dates, places, siblings or parents for him? As you can see, I'm grasping for straws on my DAVIS line. Sally Andrews Neely

    2. Responding to Stephen Frankllin, issue #57: Sorry I do not have any info about Basil/Bazil NEELY (any spellings of the surname) in my database at this time. Location and time is similar, so if anything pops up, I'll let you know. My husband's line starts with the immigrant ancestor, Hugh, fresh from Ireland and on to VA. His son, Robert, b in Marsh Creek PA abt 1761 also moves to VA where his son William B was b bef 1800. Wm goes to IN, but his son John was b in VA in 1817 before moving to IN. John's son, William Micajah NEELY was b in Jackson Co IN 1849, moving to northern Winnebago Co IL where four generations of NEELY's are located, including my son, Matthew. Let me know if you want more info on what I have. Sally Andrews Neely

    3. Great to see the list becoming active. I have made several connections with my family through this list. I have just returned from a trip to Christian County and there courthouse. If you ever get a chance to visit the people are wonderful there and very helpful. If you have never checked out probate records they offer lots of new information. I added two children to the Wiley family and 5 to the Dain/Prater family. It appears that the majority of my ancestors either died between 1860 and 1870 or took off to the west. Main family surnames: DAIN, CULVER, AKIN, Wm. PATTERSON, HATFIELD, McGUIRE (MAGUIRE), HAYWARD, side lines : Heinline, Prater, Bowers, Joy, Matthews, Sells, Warnick, Collenbarger, and others Hope the list stays active. Mary IL

    2. To Bonnie in Alaska and others with DAVIS, I'd love to share DAVIS data with you, as that is one of the surnames that's giving us fits. Don Bremer, of this Digest, and I are both descended from one of the DAVIS sisters that married William Riley PATE. We believe that PATE married Eliza Davis about 1839/40 and after her death, he married Eliza's sister, Nancy, 5 June 1848. Both marriages supposedly in Mt Auburn, Christian Co IL. But we're stumped as to the parents of these DAVIS sisters. I see familiar names within the family you mention: Eliza, John, William, Lucy which are common in our families, but so far I don't have any info on a Job Davis or Barnett Davis to help you out. We have no clue as to where the DAVIS girls came from, but PATE is believed to be from TN. Since the weddings took place in IL, our DAVIS line could have come from KY or elsewhere. If anyone has any clues for us to follow in this puzzle, we'd be most grateful. Sally Andrews Neely

    1. [ILCHRIST-L] Roll Call: PINKERTON, WETZEL
    2. I'm searching the PINKERTON and WETZEL names in the Stonington and Taylorville areas of Christian County. The PINKERTONS were mostly in the neighboring Greene Co., IL. Sarah (Sadie) WETZEL married John Foster PINKERTON ON 29 May 1867 in Taylorville. Sarah's brother Moses WETZEL lived in the village of Stonington. I visited there Stonington 1988. Went to Doyle's Pharmacy...they were very nice. I visited with a descendant of Mose WETZEL. she had many old pictures. She had several of my gr-gr-grandmother Sarah (Sadie) when she was a young woman, which no one in my family had ever seen. Never did get any of the pictures. She was quite old then. 1. [ILCHRIST-L] KELLAM
    2. Robbin
    3. I am researching my own surname, KELLUM and have hit a wall with my ancestor, Amander Kellam, born in Vermont about Feb 1807 died 20 Jul 1866, Rosamond, Christian Co IL.. His wife was Jerusha born in 1805 CT. Children:Orrin Albert born 1830 Oswego Co NY, Ellen born 1832 NY, Lorna born 1835 VT, William born 1838 VT, Henry born 1840 VT (my line), Celia born 1842 VT, Flavius Eli born 1847 VT. Amander is found in Oswego Co NY in 1830, Washington Co VT 1840, Kendall Co IL 1850, Grundy Co IL 1860, and Christian Co IL 1866 when he died. Buried on a hill in Rosamond Cemetery. There was a Thankful Kellam born 1785 CT (mother, aunt??) living with his family in Big Grove, Kendall Co IL in 1850. The reason I am writing is that I am researching every line of Killam/Kellam/Kilham etc in the U.S. and hopefully before I reach the age of 100 I will locate the family to connect my Amander Kellam to.

    3. Hi Bill, Thanks so much for the info on Tony Hooper. My g grandfather Tony did have a barber shop, as well as the others I listed previously at one time or another, but he died in 1939. If you grew up in Stonington, you must have known my grandmother and great aunt, Marjorie and Evelyn Hooper. My grandmother Marjorie married Tom Oseland in 1926, who also lived in Stonington. His best friend was Frances Dwyer, perhaps you knew them? I was actually in Stonington a couple of years ago visiting my great aunt's best friends, George and Laurence Gillespie. I will as my grandmother and Aunt Ev if they remember you - they are 90 and 91 now. Perhaps their recollections will help you? I also have their high school year book, if that would be of any help. 2. My interest in Harold Hooper is outside my immediate bloodlines. He was the father of a person born in 1914. The birth certificate in Mason Co.(Havana)lists his occupation as telegrapher, his place of birth as 'New Salem' and another tidbit I later found was a listing of his parents which was rather nebulous. The child has no memory of him, the mother remarried in about 1932 and located in Christian County at one time. A divorce must have occurred but I have been unable to find it. New Salem was not a Post Office in the 1890's so far as I can find, so I am assuming a rural location in Menard County or thereabouts. Most list subscribers appear not to be interested in reading long detailed postings of this type, therefore, I usually capsulize. I welcome any input someone might have. Sarajane

    2. I am not familiar with the description "list owner". Was there a person who began this list and perhaps was responsible for the relationship to rootsweb. If so, I would be interested in the steps taken to get to where we are now. Other lists have coordinators or some such title, but I don't believe I have seen them as list owners. Thanks for your input. Sarajane
