    1. [ILCHRIST-L] Double Cousins
    2. Sally - Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Hopefully this message will find you recovering nicely and will at least crack a #4 smile on a scale of ten! Last week, I tripped into a new giant herd of PHILLIPS that I hope to find the time this weekend to plug into my files. They are descendants of my g-g aunt SARAH RICHARDSON who married a PHILLIPS and started that herd in Southern Illinois. My distant cousin that provided the info is ROGER HUNT (lives in Oregon)...do you know him? Let me know when you are ready to review this list. Take care of yourself. - Tom Wilson Boca Raton, FL

    1. [ILCHRIST-L] Christian County Courthouse Hours
    2. We are coming to Illinois the end of August to do more family research. Could someone post the hours for the courthouse and the genealogy society for Christian [and if possible for Shelby and Fayette] County on this list. I would appreciate it. I know we will be visiting a lot of the old cemeteries also, so this would enable me to plan the days easier. Thanks in advance Pearl

    2. The courthouse probably is NOT open Saturdays - and the last time I was over there, I was sorta shocked to see that they close at 4:00 PM. Seemed sorta early to me - and it wasn't summer hours. Not sure what they are now.

    1. [ILCHRIST-L] George W. Randall
    2. I have recently been given some old family documents and there are some items that pertain to family members living in the Pana and Taylorville areas of Christian County. One of the items is a hand-written copy of an obituary that was published in a local paper regarding the death of Major (George W.) Randall. He died on the '2 June 1876 at his residence three miles north of this city (Pana)'. The article goes on to state 'that he held the office of township assessor some years past'. I tried to find the local government offices on the internet but I had no luck. Could you help me out in locating where the old records of Pana are archived. I would like to find out if George W. Randall really was the township assessor and any other information that might be available about him. Also the wording of the obituary seem to indicate that the newspaper that printed it was located in Pana. Do you know the name of this paper and are there copies of their old editions on microfilm? There were five other hand-written obituaries regarding family deaths in and around Pana. Thank you for your help. Pam Davis

    2. Stephen B. Bilyeu married Nancy Workman and had five children and all lived in the county. Stephen was the son of George and Elizabeth (Workman) Bilyeu who resided in the county. George was the son of Peter and Dianna (Blackwell) Bilyeu who had another son, John Bilyeu who married Elizabeth Workman in Tennessee. John and Elizabeth Bilyeu came to Sangamon County, raised a large family, moved to the county and died there in 1867. John and Elizabeth (Workman) Bilyeu had a son, Isaac Bilyeu who married Effadilla Workman in the county. Isaac and Effadilla Bilyeu had nine children (eight girls and one boy). Reagene "Rena" born in 1878 in the county was a daughter of Isaac and Effadilla Bilyeu. Infromation was received from Alan D. Bilyeu, a descendant of Jacob Bilyeu, a brother of Stephen B. Bilyeu and son of George Bilyeu. Also, Workman Family History, pages 54 and 87.
