Does anyone have any information about a man named Isaiah Baldwin. He was originally from Indiana and was supposedly a surveyor. He had a son named Joseph Baldwin who was born in IN in Sept 1857. At the beginning of the 1855/1865 Christian County Census book is a page for each year: Identification of Manufactures and Other Remarks In 1855, the predominate description of Manufactures was: Cloth. In 1865, the Cloth description disappears. Anyone know what this short lived occupation was? bill

I am searcing for information about the parents of Joseph Baldwin b. 1857 in Indiana and married Mary Molly Watts 1887. He died Aug 1930 in Daviess County, MO. Their 2 eldest children were born in Christian County, IL in 1888 and 1892. Any information about this family would be appreciated. Also, I have posted photos of members of this family who are unknown other than they have been passed down from the Watts family. Would someone with a cemetery index please look up Bridget HELM or HELMS and Eva HELM or HELMS. Both died in Taylorville: Bridget (born about 1834) died between 1870 and 1874, and Eva (Bridget's child, born about 1858) died between 1860 and 1870. Thanks in advance, Marolin [email protected]

At the end of the Civil War, my g-g grandfather, JOHN JACOB FATZER, married ROSANNA ZIMMERMAN of Taylorsville, Christian County, Illinois and moved directly to Kansas with his Civil War buddies (an Illinois infantry regiment). They lost total contact with the Taylorsville Zimmerman's. ROSANNA's parents are CHRISTIAN ZIMMERMAN and ANNA (STRITES) ZIMMERMAN...both first generation Swiss immigrants. I understand there was a fairly large contingent of Zimmermans living in Taylorsville during the last half of the 19th century. Hopefully, this "rings a bell with someone out there"...I'm really stuck on this line. Tom Wilson Boca Raton, FL

Thanks Sally Hathaway [email protected] ps: Morgan, could you please let this post on the list. I am almost ready to come back, maybe a couple of weeks yet. Thanks.
Thanks to everyone on the Pana, IL location question. Terry Littleton
Terry--Pana, Illinois is in Christian County. The pronounciation (pain-uh) does sound as if it should be spelled Pena, but . . . Hi Lura, Could you see if John W. Collins (parents unknown) or Mary F. A. Bruce (parents deceased but had brothers William, James, Joseph, George, and Phillip) are listed in the 1865 IL State Cenus (Christian County). They weren't married until 1874 in Christian County but I can't find out when they got there. Thanks. Judy Martin [email protected]
