Dear Christian Co. Researchers, I am amazed at the numbers of inquiries-I'll respond as quick as I can. I found the missing first page of the Prairie Farmer member book. The date is 1918 and here is the key to information: a-acres; Ch- children; O-Owner; T-Tenant or Renter; R-Rural Route; Sec-Section; Maiden name of wife follows directory name in parentheses ( ); figures at end of information-year became resident of county. Name of farm follows names of children in quotation marks. In case of a tenant, the farme owners's name follows the figures giving size of farm. I am really pleased to have so much interest. Brenda Berry
thanks for looking. adele [email protected] wrote: > Sorry- No LUNDS in the Prairie Farmer members c. 1920 Brenda Berry

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas! Just a short note to introduce myself. I am researching the Anglin-Anderson-Phillips families in southern Illinois. Current Surnames are FISHER, ANGLIN, ANDERSON, PHILLIPS, GARRISON NANCY ANNE FISHER b: 13 MAR 1863 Shelbyville IL d: AUG 1950 m 26 DEC 1880 was my great grandmother. She married JOHN ANGLIN in Shelbyville Illinois. John's father, Zephaniah Anglin was a resident of Pana as was his JOSEPH ANGLIN. Any information on the Anglin or Fisher families would be greatly appreciated. My current subject is Henry Clay Anderson. According to his daughter's birth certificate Henry was born in KY June 1838. Henry can be found in the 1880 and 1900 Benton Twp., Franklin Co, IL census'. With some help from our friends on the FRANKLIN-IL rootsweb I have found Henry in the 1850 and 1860 Saline Co. Census living with his mother, and possibly next door to his grandfather (a stretch). I've included the reference below. I need at least one more link to be sure this is the right Henry. Henry married Martha Isabella Hendricks (Hendrick, Hendrix) in 1868. I may have found the right marriage record in Phelps Co, Missouri. I've sent for the certificate and should know in a few weeks. I am still trying to find Henry's father.

Hi. If anyone has access to the 1880 Christian Co., Census, I am trying to find a Samuel Rule. He was living in the Mt. Auburn, Grove City area and was married to Eliza A. Thank you. [email protected]
Looking for any information on GEORGE, JOSEPHINE, OR PETER & LENA MASSA (all buried in Taylorville, Illinois). Also looking for any information on Carrie Burgess Vernaldo and her sister Elizabeth Burgess Molinari. Peter and Lena Massa were married in Kincaid, Illinois, but I do not have a date. Maybe around 1925. Sheryl
You are probably right that the migration for most was in search of better farm-land. And, you have inspired me to read up on the time period in that geographical area. It makes these ancestors seem so much more real when you consider their hardships and their lack of all the luxuries and "technology" we have today. It's Thanksgiving and I have another thing to be thankful for. Thanks for replying with your thoughts. jan
A lot of folks migrated from TN, KY into IL from 1820's or earlier and it appears to me that my ancestors did so to find better farm land to support their large families. Some eventually continued west or southwest. I have IL ancestors whose descendants can be found in IA, KS, MO, TX, OK and even the Dakotas. I am not an expert, but when I first saw these migration patterns I looked in the library for general history or non-fiction books for the time period I needed. Those books are a lot more interesting than when I was in school. Hope this helps. S.Zorn
Some of my gggrandfather's brothers spent 5-10 years in Christian County, IL and I'm wondering if someone can help me try to find records during that time period. I can't seem to find much on the internet about Christian Co. IL. I'm wondering if they were related to someone living in that area at the time or what the possible motive could have been to move from Knox Co. TN to Christian Co. IL and then on to TX. Anyone have any similar Browns or suggested theories? Here are the names and dates I have: Joseph M. Brown b. TN 1838 m. Sarah A. Coffman b. Is anyone researching the CUTLER family in Pana? I've got tons of info on their ancestors. Sandy McSpadden.
I am interested in anything pertaining to the Pawnee Railroad (1888-1905), especially the begining years & its officers, any articles, photos of the original organizers, or anything relating to its history. This small line, the Pawnee Railroad, would eventually become known to all as (the begining of) the Chicago & Illinois Midland railroad. With this, Pawnee, IL. has claim to a piece of railroad history. If anyone can give me any info on the above, please email me direct. Thank you
