I am looking for information on Elisha (Elza) L. Bensley and Velma Caroline Wright who I have been told were married in Christian Co. IL. Other sources state they were married in De Queen, Sevier Co., AR. Velma's parents were John Wright and Mary Davenport. I have searched the Illinois marriage records and the record does not appear because they were married after 1900. I have a birthdate for Velma as 1920 in Christian Co. She died in 1982 in Norman, OK. The children of Elza and Velma Bensley are Lyle, Betty, Bob, Billie, Henry, Lucille, Erma, Mary Darlene, Patricia, Warren, and Paul. Any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. Mike [email protected]

Right Sally, All, (Hopefully this got thru to All, but cant guarantee anything nowadays. W.) In spite of what's taken place, we try to continue to compile & make available to researchers who have ancestors who came from the east & Europe before they landed in IL for one reason or another, for whatever length of time, until they moved on to some other place. That's a lot of info, but several different sites offer a multitude of info out of this one state. When calm sets in, others will see what our purposes are--to help. Whether No., So., E. or W., ILROOT or ILROUTE66 we try to do good things! Doesn't everyone agree? God Bless All! HELLO WALT Our ancestors did come from somewhere before they came to IL. Don't we want to know where they really did come from? I do. I love this list, because its my hometown county. I also need to know more info on other matters also, like the rest of the state, and before that even. I'm still looking for any info on my surnames: KERWIN DUNBAR HEDDEN LADD WILLIAMS PHILLIPS HAWKINS WEBB MUNDHENKE THANKS.....:-)* Sally Hathaway.... Dear Sam, From one genealogist to another, nice to make your acquaintance. I noticed your request for your hard to find surname info. We have, regardless of our experience or lack of it, have run into brick walls at one time or another, whether in our families homeland or right here in IL. That you've run into one for the family BLACHFORD is no surprise. I suggest that you contact one of the developers of the new email list ILROUTE66 list at <http:[email protected]> From what I've been able to determine as I continue to research my BOVENIZER/FITZELL/MCELLIGOTT & CANNER/ TENNANT names from Co. Kerry, Ireland to Cook & Will Cos. in IL, this new site covers over 200 families, back to 12th C. Ireland & 19th C. IL. Name distribution for my surname alone spreads to AZ, CA, CO, FL, MA, MS, & TX, at least. Of course, I cant say how far back it might go for you or others! My thought on [email protected] is merely: "Let's all return for a genealogy ride along the famous Route 66 that brought our European & Revolutionary & Civil War & settler families from Chicago westward across the new nation." God Bless you! I was born in 1932 and knew them probably from the 1940's era. Maybe looking for them at a later date would help.
What exactly did you need to know about Bulpit? I live in Taylorville, about 8-10 miles from there. As Sally said there isn't much there. I think they still have a Tavern. Kincaid runs right into Bulpit and then about 2 miles is Tovey. My grandparents came from Italy and settled in Tovey. The were Victorio and Eliza Menossi. In 1920's. My Aunt still lives there. They may have filled out an Intent to become a citizen. It would be on fill at our court house if they did.
