    1. [ILCHRIST] Old Walnut Hill Cemetery
    2. Jane Lichtenberger
    3. In reading an article by Thelma Gardner in the 1968 Christian County history, I noted that the land on which the Old Walnut Hill Cemetery sits was given to Christian County in 1904 by Josiah Hill. In 1964 the land was cleaned by the road commissioner under the auspices of the states Attorney and a (I believe) township Supervisor. Can anyone verify this information? The cemetery is in grave disrepair and I would like to see to getting it cleaned and some of the stones repaired.

    1. Re: [ILCHRIST] Cemetery books
    2. BARBARA I have never heard of a surname index to match with cemeteries. Unless someone knows the name, it would not easily be found this way. You need to find, at least, what town or close to what town or township to try to find them in. I do have a lady who walks lots of cemeteries and does this thing with writing all surnames down in each cemetery. You might try her. She is the closet that I can think of for that. Sandy is her name and you can contact her at: [email protected] ...tell her that I sent you to her. She will try to help you if she can. She deals with cemeteries and surnames and obits. She is also my member and a good friend. THANKS.....:-)* Sally Hathaway.... [email protected] Owner of ILROUTE66 LIST [email protected] [email protected]

    3. The Decatur Genealogy Society P.O. Box 1548 Decatur, IL 62525-1548 Publishes many cemetery record books for most of the counties of Illinois. If you are a member you get 20 per cent off on the regular priced (NOT sale) Books they publish. They are the best Genealogy Society in the state and a large one at that. I believe membership is still15 or 20 dollars a year.
